Re: How long after child birth do you not look pregnant anymore?

5.5 months pp and still have a pooch and some handles. i don't feel completely gross, but i'm also not working out - as a FTWM i'm not willing to give up any time i have w DS. and when he's asleep, i make sure DH and get our down time, and that we get our sleep! so i'm ok w it but i'm starting to get the itch to lose the rest of this soggy mid. we'll see in a few weeks if i start feeling it more...

Not look pregnant - probably 3-4 weeks post partum.

I'm now 8 months pp. I'm 15lbs under my pre-pregnancy weight.

I'll be honest. I look fine if i'm standing up. If I sit down, the pouch comes out. If I'm laying down - forget it - my belly is feels like a water balloon. My DD loves smacking her hand on my belly and laughing. As if to say "ha ha I did that to you, mommy" Chat Icon Chat Icon

I exercised diligently - 5-6x a week until I went back to work at 3 months pp. After that, I exercised diligently on the weekends. Until about 2 months ago when life got too hectic. I've been following the south beach diet (primarily phase II) about 90% of the time, for the past 3 months or so. Helped tremendously.

I think it really depends on if your muscles separate or not. It also seems that sometimes the can separate and go back together but other times they don't. I think I'm going to try some sort of abdominal binder next time to see if I can "help" my muscles to go back together. Some people claim this can work but I'm skeptical. I've heard that physical therapy with the proper exercises can do a lot, but you have to be careful what you're doing becuase some things can actually make the muscles move further apart.
