Vaccines- but no drama
Could someone please fm me what you did regarding an alternative vaccine schedule...and when did you start vaccines? I would like to wait to start the vaccines, but I don't want to delay my baby's start for school either...
Also, if you're a doctor or know someone personally who is, can you fm your feelings about vaccines?
Again, I don't want to start a controversy so please don't comment on here- I would just love everyone's advice!

Vaccines- but no drama
The doc would say DS needed shots 1, 2 and 3. I said, how about 1 or 1,3. They said okay. DS is 4 and is only missing his chix pox vaccine. The rest we just caught up with.
DS only needed to show proof that he started his shots for daycare, they never asked for follow up to make sure he was on track. We've been at daycare for 3 years. I do know I have to finish before he starts K

Re: Vaccines- but no drama
I don't follow a specific schedule but I never allow more than 2 shots at one visit and then I come back a week or a month later for the rest.
I've also delayed MMR until 2 but have hesitations about it in general.

be careful with this, this is not how all daycares are. my son was at a tutortime and they CONSTANTLY asked for updated immunization records.
my son is now at an in home state licensed care center and they ask too.
if the facility is state licensed, they should be requesting updated immunization records. I would be questioning why they arent!

I agree with this. Our Tutor Time is ultra strict. And thank God for that.

My daycare also. I have to get a new form filled out and submit immunization records each time DD has a well visit.

Re: Vaccines- but no drama
We started shots at 2 months and only ever gave one shot per visit. The Ped was okay with it eventually - he did try to persuade me to give two at each visit but I stuck to my guns. I also delayed the MMR and Chicken pox until after they turned 2 1/2 - my DD was 3 but my son was 2 1/2....and when they got the MMR I waited at least 6 months to give them the chicken pox. I also made sure they were in good health when they were getting shots - no colds or anything.
We didn't do day care so just had to be up to date for preschool.

Re: Vaccines- but no drama
I do 2 shots per visit. We do not limit the number of vaccines at a time. Our ped has a 2 shot per visit "schedule" & it involves us coming in twice as often.
She actually has been seeing lots of whooping cough around & thinks the new acellular vaccine with fewer side effects is providing less immunity.
My ped changes vaccine schedules as per family request. She doesn't believe in delaying anything & really feels that the cases of autism that were seen in her practice after vaccine all had BIG issues before the vaccine. She looked me square in the eye and just told me that my kid doesn't have ANY issues. I felt better.
We haven't done Chicken pox yet because when DS was going to get it, DD was less than 1 month old. We will give it to both kids together.

Re: Vaccines- but no drama
I do one shot per visit. Never more than one visit per month. I make a lot of trips back and forth to the ped, but my DD has never had a reaction.
I refused to give her the varicella shot; I wanted to wait until her school/daycare basically made me.

Re: Vaccines- but no drama
Personally, I wouldn't take my child out into public (under rec.s of my ped) without the first COMPLETE round of immunizations (at 2 months).
Before the complete round... the rule was NO CROWDS. We could go out in front of the house, but no malls, no shopping centers, no food shopping, etc.

I started his vax at 2 months. I felt it was important as my lo was a preemie. Plus i wouldn't have felt comfortable bringing him out in public places without those first round of shots.
I do, however, only give one shot per visit. I'll also be delaying the MMR and Varicella.

I am not sure if this is considered alternative but we only do 2 shots per visit. DS has never had a reaction and this is what we will continue to do.
