Is there something viral going around?
DS woke up screaming last night and had a fever. He kept touching his ear so I assumed it was an ear infection. I brought him to the Dr. and his ears are clear. He did have slightly swollen glands and a red throat. The step test came back negative so the Dr. thinks its viral. Anyone's kids have this? How long did it last? We're going away tomorrow, which the Dr. said is fine, but I'm worried about my other DS or niece catching what he's got.

DD and I both have a cold. It has been a couple of days now. It started with DD and spread to me.
Hope he feels better!

Yup. My 20 month old has a fever of 102-105 for five straight days. No other symptoms. Dr. says it's just a virus. Two other boys in his day care had a similar illness, as did a co-worker

DS had a fever virus the beginning of the month. His only symptom was high fever (averaging 103). His throat was a little red but that was all. It lasted 7 days.

My son has it now. 3 days of fever so far, sore throat but no strep.

We all had it. DS1 fever was about 36 hours. DS2 and I have fever for 3 days.

DD just got over a cold. Last saturday she had a fever, then it turned into a cold. She was more miserable than usual with this one...waking up during the night, not wanting to nap/go to bed. Glad it's over! I have it now, but it seems to be pretty mild so far.

My nephew had it for about 3 days last week.
High fevers (they went to PM Peds the first night). Throat was red, but, no other symptoms.
No one else in the house got it. He's so much better now.

Last week my 1 year old had 102 for 3 days straight.
The ped said if it went 5 days she would need bloodwork. Anything viral wouldn't last that long.
No one else in the house got the fever. I ended up w/ a 3 day cold (no fever).

we are in brooklyn, so don't know if this counts lol
but DS is just getting over an awful virus, high fever, sore throat, runny nose, lack of appetite and diarrhea
Today marks 1 week, and he's still a bit weak and off. No fever, no diarrhea, eating better, but nose is still running a bit, and he has kind of an ugly cough from time to time.
It must be very contagious, everyone who's been in contact with him, except my DH is now sick too.
Ped said its not coxsakie, but similar virus, and to watch carefully for dehydration.
DS fever lasted 3 ... almost 4 days! My sister had a fever for 2 days. I had fever for a day. My dad didn't have fever, and my mom barely got sick, but she did have sore throat. Everyone that came a foot from this kid got sick!
