Pasteurized cheese?

I have gorgonzola cheese (YUM) and the label says it's made from cultured pasteurized milk. This is ok to eat right?

Re: Pasteurized cheese?

Yes. Most cheese is pasturized since it's made from pasteurized milk. You might have an issue with imported cheeses but most restaurants don't even do that since it's so much more expensive. Some trader joes cheeses actually aren't pasturized for some reason so definitely check labels.

Pasteurized cheese?

A waiter at a fancy restaurant told me that all cheese sold in NY state restaurants had to be pasteurized. I don't know if he was just saying that, but eat any cheese that comes my way!

My friend asked if their cheese was pasteurized at LaPiazza in bellmore (just a casual pizza place/restaurant) and they said it wasn't. Unless they just weren't sure and didn't want to chance it. It stands to reason though that even if they make their own mozzarella it will be pasteurized since it's made from pasturized milk.
