Is this normal? First Tri Screen
I had my first trimester ultra screen last Friday. They said everything looked normal on the U/S. Then, they pricked my finger and took 5 drops of blood. This was at a special imaging center.
I went to my OB today and the blood test all came back normal.
Now she says there is one more part where I go back to her office and have more blood drawn for another test. She said they check again for the Trisonmy, downs, etc.
Is this normal? I thought it was just the first part- U/S+blood, this is the first time I am hearing there is a second blood test.

I only had the u/s with the finger prick blood test done as part of the first trimester screening. Did you ask them why they are testing again?

Re: Is this normal? First Tri Screen
Maybe she is referring to the 16 week triple screen/AFP test?

Re: Is this normal? First Tri Screen
Maybe she was talking about the quad screen, which is a blood test done around 16 weeks.

Re: Is this normal? First Tri Screen
Yup, sounds like they are doing the AFP test, they did it with me too, but not with my first. One was at 12 weeks and the other one was I think 16 weeks. And they weere both regular tests, not from the finger for me. I asked they said that's how my dr's office does it...

This.
I think they told me there is more bloodwork at 19 weeks. I'll find out next week. They don't do anatomy until 22 wks at my office.
