Random Questions from a newbie...
Here they are...
First, when did you start wearing a maternity bra? My boobs always freakin' hurt! I don't know why but I really didn't expect this so soon! They don’t look bigger (they’re not really even big to begin with) but they sure feel like they’re trying
Second question, based on my due date of 2/16 which is just an estimate right now obviously, my OB gave me a first appointment date of 7/5. According to Baby Center I am 5 weeks and like 2 days and according to What to Expect they I am already 6 weeks. I know when I see the doctor they’ll tell me for sure but does 7/5 seem like a little far out for a first appointment?
And lastly, since I haven't had my first appointment yet I haven't had a chance to ask my doctor the food/drink questions yet and I'm staying away from the obvious right now; sushi, unpasteurized cheese, deli meat, alcohol etc... but based on what your doctor told you how much caffeine is OK? I don't drink coffee and I've stopped drinking soda with the exception of a sip of DH's at dinner (it's sad how much I miss it!) What about iced tea? If I only drink water for the next 9 months I'll start taking hostages.
Thanks ladies!

Re: Random Questions from a newbie...
I can answer your bra question from my experience. My boobs also starting hurting right away during my first pregnancy and growing! I went to Macy’s and bought two larger bras. That was a big mistake because I grew right out of them! I would recommend getting a maternity bra once you start feeling uncomfortable. The staff was really helpful and the bras made such a difference! Maternity bras are made to grow with you and I had no trouble using the ones I bought early on throughout my pregnancy.
As for caffeine, I would recommend moderation. I drank a small coffee everyday during my last pregnancy. I tried to cut it out this time, but I’m back to half caff/ half decaff – otherwise I think I would go crazy. So if you need an ice tea – go for it! Just don’t drink a gallon every day!

Re: Random Questions from a newbie...
I know it may seem far way, but most doctors won't see you until @ 8 weeks, so your 1st appt. seems like it's on schedule.
My doctor is fine with me having 1 cup of coffee/tea/etc per day.
I never actually got "maternity" bras, even though I have had to get bigger bras. Sports bras or Genie bras can help you transition. I don't know that any bra will relieve the pain, but that should subside in your 2nd tri.
If you're not on them already, pick up some prenatal vitamins at the drug store and start taking them.
Congratulations!

I never wore a maternity bra. With DD my boobs got bigger right away, so I bought bra extenders. Later in pregnancy, I needed a different cup and band size, so I bought a few cheepies at Kohls. It worked well for me.
My MW wouldn't schedule my first appt until I was 9 weeks, so I don't think 7/5 is that far off.
I was told 300 mgs of caffeine (two cups of coffee or the equivalent) are ok. Keep in mind that chocolate, iced tea, soda, etc have caffeine too.

Re: Random Questions from a newbie...
I got maternity bras in Jan and I am due in July. I think I'm good and they will last me though until I am ready for reg bras again.
I dont think your 1st appt sounds that far off. I have heard that most dr's rather to wait a bit. I had mine right after BFP b/c I already had 1 MC and I'm so happy I did b/c I had very low progesterone.
My dr was pretty laid back about food. His biggest no-no was apartame. He said at all costs, this is what he wanted me to avoid.

Re: Random Questions from a newbie...
I haven't gotten maternity bras but I had to buy new bras at 6 weeks. My boobs went from a 32/24A to a 34C pretty much right away! I've been wearing those bras since.
My first OB appt. was at 9 weeks (but I had seen my RE before that, so I don't think 7/5 is too far out. It would put you about 7/8 weeks depending on how your due date is calculated.
As far as caffiene, I told my doctor I was having one small cup each morning and he said that was fine.
