Registering
So DH and I got around to registering this weekend, wow talk about overwhelming.
I have a question for you that already have LO's. What was the one thing you definitely did not need and probably shouldn't have registered for?

Re: Registering
I didn't register for clothes and still got a ton (gender neutral at my shower since I was and gender specific after the baby). I also got so much bath stuff (soap, washcloths, etc). I think that was the stuff that people threw in as little extras or made baskets. As far as not needing stuff/wishing I didn't register for - I personally wish that I researched my stroller more. I wound up getting a $300+ stroller and hated it.

Re: Registering
I've heard that i should Not register for: -- Wipe Warmers -- baby bedding set (since the quilt can't be used in the beginning and you're not supposed to use the bumpers either) -- Things that go behind the baby in the carrier/car seat are dangerous (ie: Bundle Me, those neck support things, etc) -- Attachments for the carrier / car seat are also not recommended since they're also potentially dangerous. This includes things like the cup holder attachment, the car seat protector (that goes under the car seat to protect your car), etc.
I agree with PP about not registering for clothing since you'll probably get tons anyhow.
You Should register for: -- gift cards -- diapers
That's all i can think of right now ... if i come up with more, i'll add them later.

Re: Registering
I was told not to register for a diaper genie type garbage pail or the bottle sterilizer. I was also told don't register for clothes because not only do people chose their own, they usually go out of stock quickly and then it becomes pointless.
I know for a fact that it was unnecessary to buy a 55 inch teddy bear that takes up my ENTIRE couch, literally... I thought that when DH got it inside, he'd see how enormous it was and let us return it, but he has now named it "Boris the Bear" and I don't see it leaving anytime soon LOL. Totally ridiculous purchase.
The first things to be purchased off my registry so far have been mostly books. It seems my family and friends all want to buy us books, so I guess if you want books- make sure to add them, they will go flying. My pack and play, stroller and rocker were also purchased and I see all three of those being VERY essential. I am not sure I will receive many things I won't utilize.
