When should we start our registry?
My shower will most likely be the first weekend in August. DH and I are excited to start our registry, but is it too soon? I think I've read posts from other LIF mommas-to-be about how some items on their registries were discontinued or went out of stock because they registered too early. How often do stores like BabiesRUs update their stock?

I started my registry around 22 weeks and Im now about to be 32 weeks, Ive had a whole bunch of items be discontinued or go out of stock and they dont know when they will be back in... =/ So I had to change things or try the other store (im registered at 2 and both stores Ive had this happen, BRU & BBB)
No matter when you register it happens they are gonna go out of stock or be discontinued constantly... But yes the earlier your register the more chances there are of this happening... Its whateva you feel comfortable with...

Registering is a hard task, just remember you're going to spend HOURS in a store so I wouldnt wait until you're super big because its going to be hard to stand.
We registered early just because we got pressure from friends and coworkers who want to plan our shower so we got some universal things that I didnt think would be discontinued since they're new to 2012. You can always add or change things online.

Buy the book Baby Bargains! That was my bible for registering! It helped me make lists of my top 2-3 items and sometimes I just knew I wanted the highest rated and went for that. This way I didnt spend hours wandering BBB or BRU wondering what was good and what wasnt... It was a HUGE lifesaver since Im going to be a first time mom and I knew absolutely NOTHING about baby products...

i don't think its too early to register... I registered a few weeks ago (shortly after my 20 week sono) and my shower will be mid-July.

I just got this book and it IS really helpful!

We're do within a day of each other. I plan on registering at either 20 weeks or when I finish the baby bargains book, whichever comes first.

I agree, we registered as we read Baby Bargains to keep ourselves organized and have been adding to it little by little...our goal is to be completely done before our babymoon in 2 weeks. No one's really looking until shower invites go out anyway!

Yea I only went to the store for major stuff and anything I wanted to see in person that I wasnt sure about... Otherwise I constantly added items online everyday at one point... lol These are some suggestions I have, which I found helped me be less overwhelmed with the whole process.
1. Research! I would suggest doing your research with Baby Bargains Book and online (amazon has GREAT reviews of products better than BBB or BRU dont always go with their online reviews)
2. Focus on your major items first and do them 1 at a time. I did 1 major item every few days or 1 a week. I would focus all my attention and research on it. Decide on the item or make my top 2-3 list then move on to the next item.
3. When you go to the store bring your lists and go there knowing what you want to look at. Like today is strollers and bedding OR you will walk around and around and around... And its soo overwhelming you want to cry... Seriously... And narrow it down cause you may want to make more than 1 trip... It will be easier on you...
DEF dont try to do it all in 1 day or 1 trip
