Same here... I was told mats could cause car seat to slide... Basically anything that doesn't come with car seat hasn't been tested with the car seat as far as safety goes & could technically cause a safety issue in a crash. We returned our mats after this but I refused to take off/bring back the mirror... Im going to NEED to be able to see when I'm driving! Lol

Re: dont buy....
They can cause the seat to slip and not be secure against the car and not function properly.
No after market products are recommended for use with the infant car seat. No seat protectors, no head rests, no strap covers, no mirrors.
If the baby is small and you want to keep his/her head from flopping around, you're supposed to roll up a blanket into a U shape and use it around the head. Not under.

Re: dont buy....
wow, i had no idea.
Thanks so much for sharing this since i had already added both of those things to my registry! Glad i found out in time to remove them!
One other note is that you shouldn't use the Bundle Me's that go inside the car seat itself (ie: under the baby), only the ones that attach to the outside of it.

i didn't either till a friend told me that i NEED one for my winter-baby. So i had registered for that and then un-registered when i found out it was unsafe. It's not worth the risk!
ETA: and it kind of annoys me that all these things are still sold if they're not 100% safe!!!

Re: dont buy....
I was told the same thing. If head control is an issue I was told to use rolled towels on the side. Summer Infant has a product that looks like that so I may get that.

Re: dont buy....
When my carseat was installed (leather seats) they used a piece of shelf paper underneath (the non slip one) to prevent the carseat from shifting/slipping. It's a much better alternative to the mat and my dd's carseat base does not move at all!

I Still used some of this stuff. You have to make the decision yourself. They have to tell you no because they have been tested but that does not mean they are bad it's just that the car seat company is not paying to test someone else's products

Have to admit so did I. I had two winter babies and for both the bundle me was ideal. They stiill sell bumpers for cribs too which are deemed unsafe and all of my friends use them. I totally agree with this poster you have to decide for yourself.

Exactly. Many of these after market products were never crash tested with the carseats, so really they have no idea if they are safe or not. When I got the seat inspected they also told me the sun shades that roll up on the windows were a HUGE no no as well as the backseat mirrors.
My DS was born in December and I have no idea what I would have done without the Bundle Me!
ETA: I also used bumpers until my DS was old enough to pull himself up and stand on them. It's all about your personal parenting comfort level.
