Re: couple of can we have these questions..

I ate and drank whatever I wanted this pregnancy. Of course, everything in moderation. However, during my first tri I did limit certain things like caffeine, diet drinks and cold cuts. After I passed my first tri I did whatever I wanted lol.

Re: couple of can we have these questions..

I was told anything with splenda is a-ok.

As for caesar salad, I'd just ask if it has raw eggs. I doubt that most places do, but to me it's worth it to ask.

When we were on our anniversary trip last time I was pregnant, I was going to order chocolate mousse for dessert at one place, but the waitress noticed I was pregnant and let me know that it actually had raw eggs in it too!! Of all things!! (I got the creme brulee instead. In case you were wondering.)

Re: couple of can we have these questions..

I never asked about caesar salad, but I have basically been eating it at restaurants where the dressing is NOT homemade. If it's homemade, I know it has raw egg. If it's bought from a store/supplier, it probably doesn't.

I drink iced tea every once in awhile. I limit it b/c of the sugar and caffeine, although my doctor has no problem with me having daily caffeine. I just choose not to. I don't know anything about vitamin water.

Re: couple of can we have these questions..

every single doc is different.

in restaurants taht are fancy they often make the dressing themselves so no to caesar or blue cheese there. sigh. i know.

i did zero caffiene or artificial sweetners in the frst tri.

now i will do iced tea with caffiene or a soda here or there....but nothing with sweetnlow etc.
just my own issues with that.

but my docs were strict. no deli meats either and fish only once or twice a week.

i think its what you feel comfy with...but ask ask!

I ate Caesar salads occasionally, my doc never said not to. As for drinks, I do a lot of seltzer mixed with juice. Cuts down on the juice calories and is better than plain water all the time. I have stayed away from ice tea, though recently I have been making my own decaf iced tea with no sugar and it's been delish.

I've eaten mayo which has eggs.

I think anything in moderation is okay

I do know that there are certain fish that are a no-no

My doc gave me a list but there was nothing too alarming on there. Have the ceasar saladChat Icon

That's funny because I've been craving Caesar dressing like crazy and have been eating it every day for the past couple weeks! I use store bought bottled dressing though on salads I make myself salad at home. I don't know about restaurant dressing though. I never knew that real Caesar dressing has raw egg in it. That will make me think twice before ordering it in a restaurant again, even after I'm pregnant!

I think if you buy yourself a bottle and make your own salad, it should be fine! It's just those homemade salad dressings (that include raw egg) that are not recommended.

ETA: I don't remember why, but when I was pregnant with my DD 5 years ago, I remember being told that Vitamin water is NOT good to have - so I've avoided it. I think iced tea is okay in moderation (for caffeine sake) but I wouldn't do diet due to sweeteners.

Re: couple of can we have these questions..

I would check to see if the dressing has raw egg in it. You can have artificial sweeteners, my doc recommended to stay away from saccharin. Every doc is different. Mine also said I could dye my hair but no other chemical treatments and many people think that's weird.

Re: couple of can we have these questions..

I'd just ask if it has eggs. If its from a bottle its fine. Same with mayo. Unless its homemake aoli it's fine. I also ask about pasturized cheese in Italian restaurants. Most are. Trader Joes sells some unpasturized cheeses so just read the label. Athenos feta is pasturized.

I drink unsweetened iced tea when I go out. I use splenda in moderation (1-3 packets a day but not everyday). My Dr. said 1 cup of coffee per day is fine but I dont even have it every day.

I also drink watered down OJ, vitamin water (has stevia which some Drs say is fine) and I get decaf iced coffee if I want coffee.

It's really everything in moderation.

Re: couple of can we have these questions..

Tea has caffeine whether it's hot or cold. That is what has to be reduced.

Re: couple of can we have these questions..

I never heard you cant eat that salad but, greek cause of the feta.
Vitamin water is good but unsweetened/ decaf ice tea is better for you, reg has too much sugar.
G if you drink seltzer that is good, could always add a splash of juice to it too.

I was pretty much the same. I did not eat any raw fish though (sushi, oysters). I made sure all cheese was pasteurized (almost all are in the USA). I ate cold cuts here or there and always from a busy, clean place.

It really is about your personal comfort level. A cup of coffee or one diet coke a couple times a week was okayed by my doctor and I was comfortable doing it, where as another woman might not be, kwim? Chat Icon

Re: couple of can we have these questions..

I was pretty laid back during pregnancy, but I always read labels. IMO avoid anything that has artificial sweetners. Limit caffeine, but you don't have to cut it out altogether. And ceasar dressing from a supermarket doesn't have raw eggs, so it's fine. I don't think I'd order it from a restaurant though.

Re: couple of can we have these questions..

I guess my dr is very relaxed because the only thing he told me to avoid was sushi! I pretty much have everything in moderation. I haven't wanted cold cuts so I only had them once. I have decaf coffee but i do use equal 1 or 2 a day. He was okay with that. I don't eat Ceasar salads so I never thought about that. I did have unsweetened fresh brewed tea today and enjoyed itChat Icon
