Agreed.
When I had DS (almost 5 yrs ago) - DH and I were against pacifiers (didn't registerfor or buy any). However, as we were walking out of the maternity ward to go home, DS let out a few big cries - we stopped and went right to the nurses station and they gave us 2 pacifiers.

Re: are you taking pacifiers to the hospital?
I am. I did not for DD, I was against them and didn't want to start a bad habit. At DD's one week check up she was screaming so much and the Dr stuck her finger in DD's mouth and she started sucking and stopped. Dr told me to just use the pacifier and it became a life saver! At 4 months we starting using it only in crib so bad habits were never created. At 14 months we broke her of it completely.
This time, I have two different types packed for the hospital and will start them immediately if needed.

Re: are you taking pacifiers to the hospital?
I never used pacifiers for my first 2 kids. I decided for #3 I would if I need to! And I did. They gave me the green soothie one in the hospital and we've been using those since.

Re: are you taking pacifiers to the hospital?
Nope, I'm not. Last time, the hospital gave DS one. I also don't want to start a bad habit unless I really have to.

Re: are you taking pacifiers to the hospital?
My hospital did not have any left and my dh had to bring up the next day. Does not take up much room. If you plan on using them I would pack one just in case.

Re: are you taking pacifiers to the hospital?
I actually didn't. I didn't want nipple confusion since I was BFing, but we introduced it pretty much right away when we got home. She needed to suck constantly. No nipple confusion.
