ftm with questions about newborn care
hello mommas... DS was rushed to the ER last week because he caught a virus from a relative who had been sick and was visiting. they really should have stayed home but it's a long story...
in any case, i've been super worried because ds has been scared with good reason since coming home and always wants to be picked up. i'm trying out the bjorn baby carrier but ds seems to buckle in it and his back looks really curved. does anyone have experience with the bjorn carrier? is an insert needed?
i noticed that ds wheezes a lot too. pedi says that it's because they're full on milk but he wheezes when he's hungry (and therefore can't be full on milk) too. does anyone have experience with this?
lastly, when ds poops, it is massively explosive. i've read that sometimes this is normal but this happens every time. has this happened to any of you mommas? ds eats every 2 hours (breastfed on boob) and for a time was eating almost every hour. he definitely comfort nurses and even though i keep reading that it's not possible to overfeed a breastfed baby, could his inadvertent swallowing during comfort nursing every hour result in overfeeding and all the explosive poop?
TIA for sharing! i'm sooo stressed out bc of the whole ER ordeal

I don't think the carrier comes with an insert, but there are notches to adjust according to size. I would just check that all of those are correct.
As far as the wheezing, if they ped checked his lungs and they are clear I wouldn't worry. But if it's bothering you I would definitely take him back. You don't want to take a chance with a nb.
For the poops, as long as they aren't still black and they aren't balls (which means constipation), or has mucus then anything goes.

I had no luck with the bjorn, my baby wheezed too when younger (3 months now) keep an eye on him though if its new since the virus, poop sounds okay as long as not black, red, or white

I think breastfed babies have much looser stools so the explosive poops are probably from that. I pump and supplement with formula and the days when she has more breastmilk her poops are definately much looser then when she has more formula in the day.
As far as the baby bjorn, Riley is only 3 weeks and I tried it the other day because I needed to get stuff done, and it didn't seem to work for me! I used it with DD1 when she was about 3 months old, maybe Riley is just too small for it? I don'tk now about an insert!
As far as the wheezing, I'd keep a good watch on it. Are there other docs in the practice who you can see to get a 2nd opinion? Or is it a one-doctor practice? My DD ended up having her first asthma attack at 9 months and I wish I knew what to listen for sooner, because it didn't sound anything at all like when my DH had asthma attacks!

hi melissa, great seeing you here on parenting!! 
it looks like the baby bjorn has an 8lb minimum requirement. ds is only 7 lbs or so... i guess that makes sense... but it still seems like ds slouches a lot in the carrier.
o noes! did your dd's asthma attack start with the wheezing? my pedi's a 2 partner practice but she's very well respected. sometimes maybe she disregards issues too fast but overall she's a good pedi... seems like it's so hard to find a well-rounded pedi but i guess no one is perfect... i'll just keep a close eye on ds and see how it goes. we are scheduled for our 2 mo appt in 2 weeks.
