anniversary traditions?
do you have any traditions you celebrate on your anniversary? do you give "traditional" gifts?
last year was our 1st anni and we gave the traditional paper gifts (tickets to a show from him; photo/canvas from me). we also went away for the wknd since it fell on a wknd.
now our anni is midweek, so we are trying to decide what to do.
just wondering what traditions people have/keep?
thanks!

Re: anniversary traditions?
We're celebrating our 1 year on the 29th, and DH booked the suite we stayed at last year for the weekend.
We're probably going to do dinner in the city, and maybe a play or something. We didn't really make any set plans, just leaving it up to whatever we feel like doing that day.
I still have no idea what to get him though!

Re: anniversary traditions?
Every year without fail one of us, or both of us, forget our anniversary. It's a wonderful tradition.

Re: anniversary traditions?
We go to a different local restaurant every year. There are lots of times we will see a new restaurant and say, "we should go there sometime" but we are so conservative with our money that we never think of a good enough reason to go. At least if its for our anniversary, we feel less guilty about it. Plus, we can now say that we've eaten at all the fancy restaurants in our neighborhood.

Re: anniversary traditions?
We didnt give gifts last year on our 1st anny, we stayed home, had a fire, drank wine, cooked dinner, ate the cake & danced to our song on our back deck. It was pure Heaven. The following weekend, we went to a B&B.
Our anny this year, like yours, is mid week. We also have our 1st babes coming 3 wks after our anny so we will probably follow our tradition from last year, minus the B&B, and just enjoy one another. I will be getting him a gift this year, a joint Father's Day and Anny gift, a tv for our deck.

Re: anniversary traditions?
We did the tradtional gifts (paper, wood, etc) for a couple of years. Now we just exchange cards generally, try to have a nice dinner and we watch our wedding video. It's funny that every year we still notice something we hadn't before. :)

Re: anniversary traditions?
We try to give a traditional theme gift (i.e. cotton = new sheets for our bed). We also try to go out for dinner. Last year we went out to a hotel for a night and my parents watched our children. I loved it. I would love to be able to repeat it again this year too.

Re: anniversary traditions?
For our first anniversary, DH sent me the same flowers we had as our centerpieces at our wedding---a VERY elaborate bouquet with purple hydrangea and all! I hope he continues that tradition.

Re: anniversary traditions?
Yes we have a tradition………See a scary movie! Haha
Our first date was seeing the first Final Destination Movie. On the night before our wedding we took my little sister and big brother with us to see The Grudge. We got back to the hotel around 1am (of our wedding day) I got to bed around 2am (still fixing some of our programs). Got married in the morning around 10am. Haha
Since our anniversary is one week before Halloween we ALWAYS try to make it to a spooky movie. :)

Re: anniversary traditions?
This will be our 1st anniversary and it falls on Easter Sunday!
So we have decided to go out Saturday night, spend as much of the day just him and I and then we're having Easter w/his family.
No gifts, just cards. I told him to if he wants to buy something, get something for the house!

Re: anniversary traditions?
Our wedding was at the Cottage at Milleridge Inn so every year we go to dinner at 6pm at Milleridge Inn (the time our reception started...weird I know). It will actually be our 10th anniversary in July and we've done it every year since our first. Kind of nice being back where it all started!

Re: anniversary traditions?
It will be 10 years this summer and we have no tradition. But, we remember the day and for some reason, it's enough for us. Although last year my DH surprised me with a big LV bag for our 9th anniversary - that was special bc it was so out of the blue and bc he made sure to tell how much he appreciated all I do for him and DS. I would however like to do something special for him this year for year 10. For some reason I see this anniversary as a big one and want him to know how much I love him.

No real traditions but we always celebrate it. Either go on a trip or go out to dinner or something else we enjoy.
