Do you live in a Bubble?
My friend emailed this link to me- its very interesting..
" In a piece soon to appear on the NewsHour, Murray argues that the super wealthy, super educated and super snobby live in so-called super-ZIPs: cloistered together, with little to no exposure to American culture at large.."
Quiz is here:

Re: Do you live in a Bubble?
31 points.I fall somewhere in the following categories:
11–80: A first-generation upper-middle-class person with middle-class parents. Typical: 33.
0–43: A second-generation (or more) upper-middle-class person who has made a point of getting out a lot. Typical: 9.
I am definitely solidly middle-class at this point, although I probably grew up with some upper-middle luxuries.

Re: Do you live in a Bubble?
I got a 52. I grew up in a working-class family and we did not have a lot of money but I have a graduate degree and am financially better off than my parents. I am surprised to be as much in a bubble as I am though, as I work in a diverse area. It didn't really get into education and profession, which surprised me.
48–99: A lifelong resident of a working-class neighborhood with average television and movie going habits. Typical: 77.
42–100: A first-generation middle-class person with working-class parents and average television and movie going habits. Typical: 66.
11–80: A first-generation upper-middle-class person with middle-class parents. Typical: 33.

Didn't grow up wealthy by any definition, but I'm doing significantly better now.

Re: Do you live in a Bubble?
Oh Jesus Christ!
The first time I took the quiz I scored a 17; thought that was pretty low (I'd like to think I'm more traveled than that! ) so I took it a second time, didn't really "think" about my answers, took it faster and scored an 8!
But really, I swear I don't live in a bubble!!
ETA: the score meanings though I'm not really sure how valid they are because there seems to be a tremendous amount of overlap.

0–43: A second-generation (or more) upper-middle-class person who has made a point of getting out a lot. Typical: 9.
0–20: A second-generation (or more) upper-middle-class person with the television and movie going habits of the upper middle class. Typical: 2.

I am surprised. but it's kind of hard growing up in NYC. we ARE cut off and so different from the rest of the USA.
42–100: A first-generation middle-class person with working-class parents and average television and movie going habits. Typical: 66.
11–80: A first-generation upper-middle-class person with middle-class parents. Typical: 33.
ETA: I am convinced that I scored this way b/c I've never ever purchased Budweiser or had it in my fridge!

Re: Do you live in a Bubble?
I took it again and got a 9. I had to Google the population of my hometown and I also realized that Bud counts as domestic beer.

Re: Do you live in a Bubble?
I got an 8. I guess it was interesting, if not entirely accurate to my situation (1st gen. upper-middle class, blue collar background...); I may not watch a lot of TV but my dad owns a pickup.
How is that a disgrace? So I've never eaten at a Denny's, owned a pickup or watched Judge Judy...should I? Is the mark of a well-rounded "out of the bubble" person to march in a parade and wear a uniform? Maybe I've misunderstood though...
