I'm having major anxiety about my passport renewal-UPDATE!
I'm going away on April 17 and I realized last week my passport was expired and I never put my married name on it. So after reading everything online it looked like sending it with the expedited fee and express mail would give me plenty of time. Now I'm trying to track the status online and I know they received it by mail but there are no updates on what they are doing with it. If you had a similar situation, please tell me it all worked out!
Update ________________ It came in the mail today! I am SHOCKED! that was exactly 7 days from the day they received it! And my name change was completed! I'm so happy! Thank you to all that replied! Does anyone remember how long it takes to get your original documents back?

I had the same issue. I heard NOTHING from them and this was this time last year when they were threatening a gov't shutdown. I was SO worried. But don't worry, you will get it. It's not like UPS where they update your passport's every move

Re: I'm having major anxiety about my passport renewal
I agree, you will get it. I only newly applied for my passport when they made it mandatory for cruises and trips to Puerto Rico and Canada a few years back. The wait time was months long at that point and I sent it in plenty of time, but they never updated anything and I was getting nervous. 2 weeks before, I called every single day and everyday they assured me I would get it in time. And I did! And this goes for my FIL and DH who lost their passports right before we were supposed to travel. If you have a trip planned, they really do work hard to ensure you get it in time.
ETA: They actually paid for guaranteed overnight delivery for my passport since it was their fault it took so long since I sent it in plenty of time. I got it the day before I left for my trip! But I still got it!

Re: I'm having major anxiety about my passport renewal
I applied for mine late last summer for an October trip. Plenty of time or regular processing. Fortunately I decided to check on its progress a few weeks before the tip and the passport office never even received it. I just about had a hard attack. It was the post offices fault. They never sent I out bd couldn't even find a record of it. I flipped my lid on the manager and somehow they found it the next day. I insisted they pay for the fastest ethos available and of it about a week before the trip.
