Moms of 2+ - gifts from the baby

If you already have 1+ dc, are you planning on getting them gifts from the new baby? If so, how big or little are you going?

DS is 2 1/2 & very much into trucks & cars right now. I was thinking of getting him this toy fire truck - do you think it's enough? He already has sooooo much stuff, so I don't want to overdo it, you know?

DD is 6.5 and really into Monster High --- and it is hard to find Monster High Dolls on the shelves...so I've picked up two things to give her from US as her "Big Girl" gifts when the baby is born...

A Monster High Car -- looks like a pink and black batmobile, it's pretty cool!

As far as from the baby ---

I am getting her a BIG SIS shirt from Osh Kosh --- prob will get it today or tomorrow --- it says "BEST BIG SIS EVER" on it == so she can wear it to school the day after the baby is born. We are also making up a basket for her with some coloring books, crayons, markers, bendaroos, stickers, craft supplies --- just to keep her busy the week that Mommy is in the hospital. That whole bag will be from the baby....something like..."While Mommy has to be with me in the hospital, here are some special gifts for you?"

When my girl scout troop threw us a baby shower they also got my DD some really cute gifts for her to open that was JUST for her.

I'm a Big Sister book --- they sell them at Barnes n Nobles, I was there this weekend and saw them there.

A picture frame that said "My Big Sister and Me" (I've seen them sold at Buy Buy Baby)

Some Crayola Color Wonder stuff which she really loves!

If the kids are old enough --- what about getting a small photo album or "brag book" at the $1 store of even a nicer one at BBB/BRU and having your DH fill it with pics of the baby and the big bro/sis with the baby from Day 1 --- so that in the days following the older child will have a "brag book" to show off to everyone they come across---family, friends, teachers, playmates, etc.

I am giving my sister the responsibility of this task since I know she will follow-through on it!

My DS is 27 months and the baby will be giving him wooden blocks - he's really into stacking them and has none (he stacks his Melissa and Doug puzzle pieces). It was between that and another Thomas the Tank engine track - but, my mom just got him extra tracks last weekend so I decided against it.

I also have some books and coloring books on hand for when people come by and don't buy him a present.

We had the baby give each of our older boys a simple puzzle (Chuggington for the 2yo and the USA for the 4yo) plus some special Big Brother Stickers...

I've been buying things here and there. I got her this dora swim doll she has been wanting. I got her some new characters for her sesame street house. I'm looking to get her a big gift for the day we bring the baby home but i have no idea what yet. My mom got her one of those outdoor step 2 play houses as her big sister gift.

I was thinking about that too. DD is 5 now, but will be turning 6 a month after the baby comes.

I already made her a Big Sister shirt (that's how we told her)

I really like the idea of the picture frame.

Not sure what else to get her. I suppose if I spot something I'll pick it up. I have some time
