Toddler food allergy test positive
class 1-5 Low level egg whites (c1), moderate to milk and wheat (c2). I was told anything higher than 3 is severe.
On a positive note I hear the percentage of young toddlers outgrowing food allergies is high. I'm mostly shocked about the wheat knowing how much he loves wheat enriched foods (crackers, cookies, muffins, pizza, pasta you name it)
I feel lost about the wheat bit but read/heard that since it's a low scale I would just have to handle it in moderation.
Has anyone experienced this with their children? Know of any links, books, food items for me to pick up (specifically is there wheat free pasta or pizza)? We have never experienced any kind of food allergy before and we are big on wheat foods.
Also, I have been reading that if you have a low food allergy it doesn't mean you have to remove it entirely. Hoping anyone on here can share their stories, seen an allergist for same food allergy. I would appreciate it very much. TY

Re: Toddler food allergy test positive
DD2 is allergic to wheat and milk. She LOVES the Tinkyada Rice past Shells from the natural food section at Stop and Shop. She didn't care for the quinoa pasta. Rice chex, corn chex, rice krispies are all hits with her too. Whole Foods has a lot of gluten free stuff that we hit up. Cherrybrook cake mixes are decent too.
She has outgrown allergies to oat, rye, barley, eggs, soy and remains allergic to wheat, milk, peanut, shellfish, tree nuts and fish. She was a 2 for wheat when they did RAST testing, but when she had a couple pretzels at 10 mos she broke out in hives pretty badly. She has had some recent exposure to milk/wheat and didn't react (she is 17 mos now) so I'm hopeful she is outgrowing them as well.
Both my personal allergist and DD's told us that food challenge is the ultimate decider on allergies, not skin prick testing or rast bloodwork, since both can be false positives. DD2 showed positive to garlic on a skin prick test but did fine with food challenge. The only thing our allergist recommended is to introduce foods slowly to her.
http://www.foodallergy.org/ is a good resource to start.
It's hard to manage but it gets easier. There are many things available on the shelves now that are easy to find as wheat free. Check the natural foods sections of the stores, that's where most of them are. Hopefully he outgrows them or is cleared by a food challenge.

Re: Toddler food allergy test positive
My son recently had his blood work done and his list as quite big with cat 2 and 3 in them all
My post on sons allergies
At first I freaked out bec it is all the foods he eats DAILY And LOVES,!! (2-4 pieces of wheat bread a day...2-3 egg sandwiches a week, 2-3 sippy cups of milk a day, etc)
So when we went to the allergist she told me kids with eczema often get false positives with allergy blood tests..
She said the best way to discover true allergies is really "trial and error"
She said you will know when your dec has a reaction...
So far the only food was peanuts... so we avoid that...but all the others we are going to keep on giving them to him..
Good luck!
