Kirkland/Costco diapers....BTDT moms too! help!!!

DH and I just came back from a trip to Costco and bought our first pack of diapers. We had a coupon for $5 off any size of Kirkland diapers. So we bought the size 1-2 (their smallest size) and it came to $20 for 216 diapers (good deal, right?)

Ok, so here are my questions, and they may be silly.

1) Size 1-2 will fit a newborn, right? The box doesnt actually say "NB" on it, but it does say "up tp 15 lbs". I have this feeling like they may be too big for a newborn. I haven't taken them out of the package for closer inspection, but even if I did, I probably still wouldn't know. Should I buy newborn specific diapers anyway?

2) How is the quality of Kirkland diapers? I have 1 cousin who swears by them, but thats it.

Any and all help/opinions are appreciated!! TIA!

Truthfully it will depend on the size of your baby. My dd was 7 lbs and size 1 was huge on her and they leaked. Also you my want to get sensitive diapers for the beginning. My dd wore newborn diapers for 3 weeks. I uses the huggies sensitive ones because they had the cut out for the umbilical cord. Eta Ive worked in daycare for 10+ years and a lot of people use the kirkland diapers.I think they are ok. Love the Kirkland wipes! I prefer pampers because they honestly leak less and they stretch much better than just about most diapers. Obviously they are pricey. I buy Luvs, huggies or pampers which ever are on sale.

It all depends how big your baby is. With our first child we used the Kirkland diapers and loved them! The wipes are great too.

My DS was born at 6-9 and was in newborn for the first 6 weeks or so. He is now in ones and is almost 11lbs.

The 1-2 might be too big. My DS wont be on 2s for another few weeks (probably about 3 mons old)

Kirkland diapers run a little big. Like someone else said, it will depend on the size of your baby. My son was 7lbs 11oz and in Newborn for a few weeks. I prefer Pampers swaddlers or sensitive when they are first born. That is what they most likely will put the baby in at the hospital. They have a nice little yellow line down the front that turns blue when they have a wet diaper. They are also pretty soft and fold down nicely for the umbilical cord.
My MIL buys kirkland brand for my son, and I find them to be very ruff feeling and bulky. They seem to not leak though, but not sure about when they are younger. She didn't start buying them until DS was in size 4.
I used swaddlers until size3, then I started trying other diaper brands.
I would buy a small package of Newborn diapers, just in case. You will figure out through trial and error which diaper brand you will like.

Love Love Costco brand wipes though!

Thanks so much ladies!!! Im gonna buy a pack of those sensitive newborn diapers too! I am so glad I asked!

We did get the wipes too! They were on sale (no coupon needed) for $15 for 900 wipes! I looooveee Costco!

We use Kirkland diapers now and love them. I just recommend that when baby is a little older, you use one size up for nighttime (like once they're STTN).

When this baby comes, we will be using Pampers Swaddlers until she fits into the size 1/2.

And we LOOOOOVE the Kirkland wipes. We use them for everything. I'm so happy they're on sale again so I can stock up for DS and the new baby
