PSD? Pubic bone pain? Anyone have this or hear of this?

For the last week or so I've had this pain right around my lower pelvis/pubic bone area (I'm 31 wks). The area almost feels like its bruised...like someone punched me there or something Chat Icon. Thanks to the power of google, I read about something called PSD and basically it says it is caused by the loosening of the joints in the pelvis to make some room for baby to come out. Whatever it's for, it hurts like a b!tch. So I was just curious if anyone has heard of this or has any experience with this? If so, when did you begin to experience it and is there anything that can be done to alleviate the discomfort?

Re: PSD? Pubic bone pain? Anyone have this or hear of this?

welcome to my world!!! I've had this for the last four weeks!!!! Some days it's worse than others, but it hasn't disappeared yet....doctor told me second babies carry bigger and lower..she suggested i buy a pregnancy belt, which i did....it helps a little, but i find it uncomfortable at times.

Let me know if you figure out any other ways to reduce the pain!!!

we should form a focus group Chat Icon

i'm 30 weeks and have been having the pain off and on since 28 weeks or so! it's terrible! my absolute favorite description of the pain is from an about.com article...

"Pubic bone pain...is where, usually in later pregnancy, the hormone relaxin causes the pelvis, particularly at the pubic bone, to loosen...sometimes the separation is exaggerated"

exaggerated...really! you don't say! lol. hang in there mamas! i've discovered that doubling up on the pillows i put between my legs when i sleep at night has help TREMENDOUSLY!!

Re: PSD? Pubic bone pain? Anyone have this or hear of this?

I had this all throughout my second trimester and on and off in my third. Come to think of it I havent had it in a few days, instead its been replaced with lightening cr*tch.

Yay.

Mine was limited to the right side of my pubic bone and felt as if I had just been kicked with a steel toed boot. Usually would feel it after sitting for an extended period and then getting up.

It does lessen. And it will disappear all toegther once we give birth I am sure. Chat Icon

Yup, I have that pain. Somedays are worst then others. Usually it hurts the most when I get up in the middle of the night to pee, or when I get up in morning.

All these pains go away once you give birth. There is nothing you can really do about it.

I feel your pain. I had this with my first pregnancy for my second and third trimesters and it hurt a lot. My ob suggested a belt but I never got one. I found that doubling up on pillows between my legs helped. The pain almost immediately disappeared after the birth. I'm just praying I don't have it again this pregnancy.

Re: PSD? Pubic bone pain? Anyone have this or hear of this?

I too consulted Dr. Google and was thrilled to learn that I was not losing my mind and that this happened to other people.

I get it horribly at night on my left side, after sitting for a while, after walking for a bit etc. Awesome right? I did read a suggestion that you should try to move your legs in unison and keep them close together when possible (i.e. keeping your knees together when rolling over in bed... i found it still hurt like a mofo, but lessened the intensity a bit).

If anyone has other tips to decrease pain please share!!

Re: PSD? Pubic bone pain? Anyone have this or hear of this?

I had this in my first pregnancy starting in the third trimester. I have now had it since 17 weeks-not fun. I see a chiropractor and I work in a physical therapy office and have gotten some treatment (heat and stretching) and it is starting to help.

Re: PSD? Pubic bone pain? Anyone have this or hear of this?

i think i have this but i'm not sure. it really hurts to lift my left leg into my pants in the morning, but my right side is fine. it also hurts a lot when i straighten out after sitting cross-legged. i hope it goes away instead of getting worse!

Re: PSD? Pubic bone pain? Anyone have this or hear of this?

My pain is more in my Vagina (although that's where it feels like it is). I'm 30 wks also w/ #2. It hurts to turn in bed, sitting long, getting up. I had this the last month w/ #1 and once my water broke the pain was immediately gone. My Dr says with #2, #3 etc the pain happens sooner. The maternity belt to me just bothers my stomach and feels too restricted. Hang in!!!!

More in the front. I have had the other pain as well but this is my newest ailment, lol.

Thank you all for your responses. I will definitely try the extra pillow at night to see if that helps.
