What's the Story with Google Changing it's Privacy Policy?
I'm hearing chatter about a March 1st change date and it could have big issues with an invasion of privacy?
Anyone hear about this?

Re: What's the Story with Google Changing it's Privacy Policy?
Based off your history, searches, youtube, maps use (all google products), they will have ad's based off your patterns and etc..
Now to me, this is no different then going to Amazon and they remember what you search and send you an email a deal on something similar. Call me stupid but you may benefit from this.
Sure, its knowing to much information on someone but its just google doing it as a whole instead of all each individual part keeping data.

They are combining all of the data that they have from each service they provide (search, gmail, google docs, youtube, etc) and making a single database of all of your info.

But then where is the talk of invasion of privacy coming from?
Especially if they're doing it now.

Google points out that the products won't be collecting any more data about users than they were before. And, in fairness, the company has gone out of its way to prominently announce the product across all of its platforms for weeks.
The major change is that, instead of profiling users separately on each of its sites and products, Google will now pull all of that information together into one single profile, similar to what's found on Google's dashboard page.
I'm really not sure what the issue is. They already have all of that info, but instead of having it in a dozen databases, they put it in one.

Exactly. I'm not too concerned, and I use Google products for a lot of things.
