I kiss my boys on the lips, tummy, feet etc... I nibble on their fat cheeks, I nuzzle their necks. They are 6 months old, I know when they get older, I will start teaching cheek kissing, but I am lovinggggggggg it now

I would be very upset if someone else kissed them on the mouth.

I don't kiss any of my kids on the lips and never have. it's weird to me and i've never been a fan. i see people who post pics of their kids like son and daughter kissing on the lips and it just weirds me out. that's just me though. the only person i ever kiss on the lips is DH.

We dont kiss DS on the lips. He tries to and we turn to a cheek. I nor DH kiss family members on the lips....

I kiss only DS on the lips...no other family member. No quams about it.

Thanks for all the responses. I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who feels the way I do but also interesting to hear what everyone does. Maybe in the future I'll kiss DS on his lips. But I will be using the idea of telling him to give relatives a kiss "on the cheek" when he's older.

I wouldn't kiss my baby on the lips or anyone else besides dh! I didn't grow up in a kissing family so I'm not into kissing anyone hello. My dh says I offend people because I freeze up when see someone coming for my cheek but it's just not my thing. Even my very Italian family members don't kiss anyone!

I kiss him on the lips every chance I get! I could just eat him up.

Not sure how I feel about others doing it, it hasn't occurred to me. I dont think I would mind only if it was close family.

I always kissed my nieces and nephew (when they were little) on the cheeks.

I kiss/quick peck DS on the lips as does DH.

I actually think its wrong to kiss other children who are not your own on the lips. I don't like it when anyone but DH and myself do it to DS.

You never know how people feel about it.

I can't get enough of DS lips!!! I was sick with a cold for his first week of life and wasn't allowed to and it was killing me!

However if another adult besides DH kisses DS lips, I'd flip my lid!! Holy GERMS and just plain old grossness. That's a line you don't cross. Those lips are for PARENTS ONLY!

I do it with my kids. I can't even describe how sweet it is..

I kissed my parents on the lips when I was a kid too, so it's normal for me.

No one else does it though.

I feel like shouting from the roof tops "Don't kiss me or my son or even my husband on the lips!!!!!!" It would just be addressing my in-laws. So clearly, I'm not a fan either.

I really feel it all depends on how you grew up. In my family, everyone kissed on the cheek-- kisses on the lips were for couples, thus it had a more adult/romantic connotation. I would never kiss my children on the lips... it just seems odd to me. I would never, ever want family members doing it either. However, if you grew up kissing family members that way, I can understand it being the natural thing for you to do now.

The only one that kisses DD on the lips is my dog when we don't catch him fast enough...

We kiss her on the cheeks and we've been teaching her "kiss" by using her hand to her mouth and going "muah".

I always give DD kisses on the lips. I see nothing wrong with it. As for other people's kids, I usually wait and see what the kid is used to doing. For instance, some kids are trained to "give a kiss goodbye" and you will see them pucker up and expect you to meet their pucker with yours. Other times, you can see that they are expecting a cheek. I could never deny a little kid a kiss if that is how they are accustomed to showing affection. But that is just me. I personally wouldn't be offended if someone didn't want me kissing their child on the lips though. I think it's definitely a matter of personal opinion along with what you are used to in your family. My dad always kissed me and my sisters on the lips. I always think about that whenever I hear that Butterfly Kisses song - the part where he sings "I'm only gonna kiss you on the cheek this time". But again, I can easily see how it could very well be frowned upon.

As for someone else kissing DD on the lips - I am going to have to wait and see what happens when she starts understanding that. Right now DH has started teaching her to give him a kiss and she opens up her little mouth and plants a wet one on our lips now whenever we ask for a kiss . I expect that when family members ask for a kiss, that is what she is going to do.

I kis my boys on the lips all the time. I was raised lke that and I see nothing weird about it. My Il's, Mom and sister also kiss them on the lips

I always thought it was odd to see parents kiss their children on the lips (any older than infant/toddler age..)

Now that I have a DS I kiss him on the lips all.the.time. I cannot resist. I do not know if I will continue this when he is 10, 12 yrs old bc as I said I did always get weirded out by seeing it

Personally it would not bother me if either of my SIL's kissed DS on the lips. We are all close and they love him to death, so it would not phase me BUT I can see how it might bother some and do not think you are wrong at all for being bothered by it.
