Fetal weight and measurements
I am currently almost 37 weeks and went to dr today. There is currently nothing going on down below however the DR said he wants to send me out this week to have the fetal weight and other measurements done. When I questioned him about this he stated it was routine. I can't help but wonder why he wants to do this now? Has anyone had this done? Is it something I should be worried about. He is guessing at this point the baby is 6 lbs. My other two babies were premature. 36 weeks and 33 weeks. Wondering if maybe it has something to do with that??

Re: Fetal weight and measurements
my office is going to schedule me for a growth sono when I'm 37 or 38 weeks. However, it's because I gained a lot of weight otherwise I wouldn't be getting one.
however, from other ladies on here, it seems like depends on your office. Some ladies seem to get growth sonos as a routine procedure.

Re: Fetal weight and measurements
My doctor said its standard for a growth sono between 36 and 37 weeks. In my experience, my doc sent me for one at 33 weeks bc my belly looks small. Thank God is measuring at a healthy 4lbs
Edit to add they may also do this to see if your LO is breech or head down

Re: Fetal weight and measurements
When I had DS, I didn't have a growth sono. Only because the office I was going to didn't do them, unless there was an issue.
The office I go to now, does one between 35-36 weeks.

Re: Fetal weight and measurements
I'm only getting growth sono's done because I have GD..otherwise, my last sono would have been at 20wks...however, every Dr. is different.

Re: Fetal weight and measurements
I had a growth sono at 32 weeks becasue I had GD with my last pregnancy. I am not sure if I will have another growth sono with this pregnancy, but know that I don't have one scheduled for tomorrow's 35 week appointment. The doctor and I are talking about going for a vbac and my DD was 9lbs 10 oz so I'd love another growth sono just to be sure about what size baby I might be pushing out!
