Time between feedings: Day vs Night
DS is 7 months old and not really STTN. He used to at 3-4 months and would go 6-9, sometimes 10+ hours sleeping without any wake-ups. Then around 5 months he would start to wake at least once every night and people suggested it was teething. He has no teeth at all and I don't *think* any are on their way. I am breastfeeding him and also read that breastfed babies sleep lighter. My pediatrician suggested CIO but I just can't bring myself to do it. What's weird though is that DS can go around 6 hours during the daytime without a feeding. So why is it that at night he is waking every 3-4 hours? Do you think if I tried to keep him on a 3-4 hour schedule during the day, then he'll go longer at night?
We do all we can do to try to get him back to sleep without a feeding first. Sometimes giving him his pacifier helps and sometimes we just flip him onto his belly. Sometimes DH will rock him (I can't because if I did, he'd want my boob for sure).
Any advice from people who did NOT do CIO?
He usually nurses around 8pm for his "last" feeding before bedtime and is asleep by 8:30. Then will wake up every 3-4 hours from there until he's up for the day around 8am.
Am I starting bad habits if I go to him every time he wakes up? Also, after I feed him I change his diaper which is usually very wet. So if I didn't go to him, he'd be waking up with a soaked diaper. Unless my feeding him is what's causing him to pee so much throughout the night.
I'm just looking for him to get a complete night's sleep. He does nap during the day...around 10am, 3pm, and sometimes a short 5:30pm.
