Better to go to Orlando in April or May?
We are finally going to Disney!
Is it better to go to in April or May?
Our date choices are last week of April, first week of May or second week of May. I'm assuming second week may start to get crowded because kids get out of school.
DS saw a commercial for Legoland on my laptop and is dying to go to Legoland.

Yeah Legoland! Heard it just opened last October and am dying to go too!
Anyway, I would avoid April because that's still spring break season. The best time to go is the first 3 weeks of May just before Memorial Day rolls around. Weather should be gorgeous and lines shorter w/o all those school kids. :D

I was told that schools in the south finish school 1st or 2nd week of May. I'm not sure when Spring break is this year, but I would probably choose end of April OR first week of May. Not the 2nd since it's probably more crowded then.

when i went to disney ages ago we went in april and i believe it was right after spring break had ended.
so i would see when kids are out for school and work it around then.
april was a really nice time to be there.

I can't wait for Legoland!
I'm not that excited for Walt Disney World but very excited for Legoland.
3yo DS is not very into mickey and friends. He does love his legos and Nick Jr people.

best time to go to Disney
The best times to go to Walt Disney World are:
* Mid-November through mid-December (except the week of Thanksgiving). The weather is usually cool but pleasant, the Christmas decorations are up, special events are running, and the attendance is usually moderate. Expect crowds on Saturdays, especially at the Magic Kingdom. Disney's resorts typically fill up early for all of December, but this doesn't necessary translate into huge crowds during early December.
* Second week of January through mid-February. It's cool (sometimes even a bit cold) at this time of year. This is one of the least busy times of year and hotel prices are lower. However, some rides will be closed for refurbishment at this time of year. The first week of January can be busy due to extended holiday vacations and the Walt Disney World Marathon. Avoid any holiday weekends.
* First three weeks of May. The weather is warm in May, but usually not unbearably so. Crowds and hotel prices are moderate. Memorial Day weekend will be more crowded, but often not as bad as you might expect.
* Late August and entire month of September (even Labor Day weekend). It will be extremely hot, and this is peak hurricane season. Plan on taking afternoons off and visiting water parks. Crowds are low. Off-site hotels usually have their rock-bottom deals during this period, and Disney has offered "free dining" packages in this time frame each year since 2005.

Thank you for this information. I was originally going to shoot for the end of April but there seems to be some sort of cheerleading competition then. I am going to shoot for first week of May.

The cheer groups usually stay at a value or moderate. Usually the values though. If you aren't staying at either, I wouldn't worry about it.
And yes, it's HOT there now, so the pool in April should be fine!

I would go the 1st week of May - the second week I might avoid because it will start to get more crowded and there is mother's day. April- you would have to look at crowd calendars - the very end might be okay but there might be spring break families there.
We went end of April beginning of May before and the weather was great - the crowds were VERY light and we had a blast. We went more recently the 5/15-5/24 and it was 90s every day - and starting to get much more crowded than the previous trip we did beginning of May.
