Btdt moms: toddlers in cribs

When did you move your dc from the crib to a toddler bed?not sure if Im ready for ds to go into a bed just yet he's 2.5. If you did the switch how did your bedtime routine change? Did they stay in their bed all night by themselves ? Sorry for all the questions I'm just in need of advice! TIAChat Icon

We just changed my DD over and she is 3y4m. Nothing changed, she sleeps the same...........super easy transition. Buuuuut.............we just converted the crib by taking down the front of the crib and replacing it with the toddler conversion kit that came with her set. So in reality, aside from being able to get in and out of her bed, nothing else really changed for her. KWIM? Chat Icon

Re: Btdt moms: toddlers in cribs

We switched a little over a month ago when DS was 31 months.
I have a baby so we were going to move him into the crib
First kept showing him his new "big boy" room. WE would go in to read books and get him excited.
I kept telling him to tell pple (like grandparents, his teachers, etc) that he has a "big boy bed"
He'd get excited
Started with a nap then we put him in there for bed. Exact routine we do every night. He transitioned great... well, that is until he figured out how to get out (even with the long rails).
Back to getting him into sleeping in his bed, but he did transition great

Ann was about 21 months when we converted the crib (took the front rail off) and there was really no impact/change.

Probably two months later we got her a toddler bed (for sale on the buy/swap/sell thread Chat Icon ) because her room is on the small side and the converted crib still had the tall side rails that just looked out of place.

Again, no real impact.

In the past two weeks (she's almost 31 months), we decided to test her out in a big bed so I moved an old futon in her room and she's been a little off but she was already having some issues (calling out at night a lot). And I think she really loved her toddler bed.

When we first converted the crib, she was still completely fine it it and had never tried to climb out. Since moving from the crib, she never once has gotten out of her bed unless it's morning (and there's a baby gate at her door).

Good luck!

My girls moved to twin beds at 15 months and 17 months. Their routines didn't change at all and they stayed in their beds all night.
