I have a few stupid questions about my D & C tomorrow
How long were you in the hospital for? They told me expect to be there for 6 hours. Just seems like a long time.
Did they make you take your toenail polish off? They told me no nailpolish but was hoping they wouldn't check my toes.
Lastly did they use a catheter?
Im nervous and just want it to be over. Thanks ladies for your answers

I had 2. The first one I was in and out in the morning. I don't think I was in recovery that long. The 2nd one I was there for the entire day but they didn't take me in at the time I was supposed to due to getting bumped for emergencies.
I don't think I had polish on and they did not check. I just had a c section and had polish on my toes and it did not matter. I just would not have polish on your fingers.
No. no catheter.

no catheter. the reason its 6 hours is prep ..surgery is very quick but then they have to keep you after and observe you and nothing goes fast in hospitals usually.
btw unless you are in major pain after you might not want to take extra meds bc the nurse said if i took something..i would have to be there longer and i just wanted to go home!!

This! I had two and the first I felt like I was in and out the second one I didn't go in on schedule bc of other emergencies. They took blood and hooked me up to iv, once they wheeled me in they put something in iv that he said would makes me feel like I've had a few drinks. Then took blood pressure brought me in operation room and last thing I remember was being lifted from one bed to another, getting more meds in iv and asked to count to ten and I do t remember after two. Next thing I knew I was in recovery and not in pain, bit they did say of I was in pain they would give me iv meds bit I would stay in Recovery longer. After my blood pressure came up I went back to the room where my husband was. I asked for ginger ale and after I peed I was allowed to leave. It wasn't painful just emotional. We are all here for u! Fm if u have any other questions or need/ want to talk. Good luck!!
edited for iphone typos! The first one i was in and out in 3 1/2 hours the second was 6 hours.

They probably overestimated by saying 6hrs.... just in case it IS that long, so you aren't surprised. In all likelihood, I don't think it should be that long. I had a D&E (I was further along) and even for that, I was on my way home in less than 6hrs... For my D&C, I think I got there around 1 and was out by around 4:30/5..... In my experience, the time before the surgery took the longest. Afterward, it was mostly about getting back on your feet and well enough to go home. No catheter.

I got to the hospital at 7am and was home by 10am. No cathetar. I left my polish on my toes.
Sorry you have to go through this!
