Surprise 30th Venue Help!
Any ideas for inexpensive place to have a surprise 30th for about 40-50 people? Planning a surprise 30th for my DH - we live in Babylon, so anywhere western Suffolk or eastern Nassau would be good!
TYIA!!

We are having DD's first birthday at the Knights of Columbus in Seaford. It's really nice and not too expensive.

We're throwing my parents a surprise 50th anniversary party at Papa Joe's in Deer Park. They were the most affordable place we looked at. Other places we looked at were Babylon Carriage House, Lilly Flannigan's, Irish Coffee House, Library Cafe, and Palmer's.
My surprise 30th was at Ludlow Bistro in Deer Park. They did a great job.

Re: Surprise 30th Venue Help!
Check out The Post Office, The Main Event (in Plainview)... and wherever you look, try to negotiate price down by opting for a beer, wine, soda package - and the waitstaff can "suggest" those drinks to try and get ppl to realize and ask for that. You can also do a buffet of "bar fare" food to keep the costs down - we went to a party recently on a Sat. night, started a little later like 7:30 - 8pm and they had sliders, wings, nachos, etc. buffet style. Or you can ask for a passed apps type of party which will keep costs down as well. Everything is negotiable - pick a place and tell them your budget, see what they can do for you. HTH!

Re: Surprise 30th Venue Help!
I did a surprise party for DH at Dave and Busters. It was a lot of fun. We did a private room with food and people bought their own drinks (it was 40 people). We included tokens to play games. He thought it was great.
The funniest part was the surprise. We walked in and he thought it was a party for our friend. Well the room was enclosed in glass and as we walked past he spotted his cousin Lisa. He turns to me and says I didn't know Lisa was friends with Kevin. Then they yelled surprise. I thought he knew, but obviously not.

Do you like mexican? Don Ricardo's has a private room. That would be fun.
There's also the Post Office, 300 in Melville, Lily Flannagans, Horace & Sylvias

I heard Belmont lake state park rents out but I guess weather could be an issue. I had.mine dh at Belmont raceway on a sat afternoon. It was a blast and cost nothing. Just food.

Re: Surprise 30th Venue Help!
I did a surprise bday for DH at a firehouse room. It was inexpensive and worked out well.
We brought our own food and booze and I decorated it however i wanted - no restrictions.
A cute decorating idea:
I did a black , white & gray theme - Black table cloths with black and white pictures of DH growing up stuck all over them ( I just printed them out in B&W at home & made photocopies) and then put a clear cloth over it.

Bella Verdes in Brentwood (on the heartland golf course). Great food, and beautiful views. We had my moms 50th there in Sept, and she's since been to 2 others parties held there by her friends who went to hers.

I threw DH a surprise 30th at 300 Bowling Alley in Melville last year. I rented out the "Back 9" (their private room complete with full bar and 9 lanes) and had buffet style apps and open bar. He was so surprised and everyone had a great time.
We also threw my IL's a surprise 35th anniversary at The Library Cafe in Farmingdale. Also a great spot with good food and great service.

this is what i was going to suggest also. we have dhs birthday here every year. its really is the best birthday get together, so much fun and food is good. i would imagine the party package is better than just having people order off menu like we usually do.
