Getting a tablet when you already have a laptop and iPhone/smartphone?
If you have all three,
in what ways do you use your tablet
(be it an iPad, Kindle Fire, Samsung or other...)
that's different from what you can do on your phone or laptop?
Debating whether to put a tablet on the wish-list...

It's just easier. It's bigger than a smart phone so it's easier to read & type. It's faster to turn on a tablet and get online than it is to boot up a laptop. It's more portable.
I use my ipad for browsing online, reading & sometimes playing games. I use my laptop when I am going to be doing a lot of typing, research and for pictures. My phone is for when I commute.
I don't think I would run out to get a tablet (mine was a gift) but I do enjoy having it and I use it more than I thought I would.

I usually have my laptop and ipad going on at the same time... Laptop for web browsing, ipad for games. I use my iphone for on the go...

i got my iPad before i got my MacAir... now my kids have the iPad...
i have the iPhone & MacAir
the kids have a shared iPad and each have their own iTouch.
the iPad for them the screen is bigger, which is what they like... they are 2 & 4
my Air is light and small like the iPad

I use my iPad instead of my laptop 90% of the time. I go online, read books, play games, check email, etc.
I use my laptop to create and edit documents, invitations, craft stuff, edit pictures, etc. This is not that often.
I use my iPhone when I'm out and about. My iPad is wifi only which works for me.

thanks for the responses!
Yeah, basically, what's happening is that I either don't want to boot up my laptop just to look up something online or I want to lie on the couch or bed so I end up doing a lot of my web browsing on my phone....which is starting to get annoying.

I travel a lot so the xoom is perfect for that; easier to read than the phone.
and yes i look at it at night in bed when i dont want a clunky laptop or tiny phone screen

I use mine this way also. When I travel for work, I take my iPad with me and watch movies or catch up on my shows using my cable's OnDemand app. I also have a regular Kindle that I use to read at night and keep in my bag daily.

i don't use my ipad anymore. hubs uses it for video games sometimes, and tot uses it for tot apps & videos.

My Ipad and laptop are work provided. I use both for work and for general web browsing.
I have a Nook Tablet for e-books as well.
I have a Blackberry (work provided) as my main cell.

I have MacBook, iPhone 4s and an iPad.. The iPad I use to surf web, watch streaming netflix at night w/ headphones, answer emails, surf web, read the times, etc.

I have a laptop and a droid and for Christmas I got an iPad. I insisted it wasn't necessary since I already had a comp and a smart phone but Ill tell you I love this thing! It is so addicting and it has pretty much taken the place of both my phone and comp. I use my comp now for school work and my phone to make calls. Having a tablet is beyond convenient.
