had the craziest pains just before...
a friend and my mom say it's probably the baby pushing down, and not contractions (cuz i have no idea what any pains are, I feel like I won't know a contraction when it happens)
but it was crazy stabbing pains!!!!!!!! at the bottom of my belly down into my vagina...made me stop in my tracks and happened about 4 times within 20 -25 minutes...
so i did wonder if it were contractions, but im told if my stomachs not tightening when it happens its not?
i dunno...all i know is it HURT and was not fun
...and so it begins! :)

i get these alot..round ligament pains...but maybe you should call dr to make sure!

if it felt like lightening shooting out your vajayjay you might be dialating. i didnt experience much of labor but the night before i delivered it was like little lightening bolts down there and the next day i was 2cm at 33w.

I get them really BAD but for me, I am not dilating 
My LO is really low, his head is literally in my cervix, so that is why I get them. Its like terrible stabbing pains down there, almost like a knife is being shoved up for a minute, then it stops. Its the worst when I walk or I am standing for a while. I wish it wasn't just pressure for me. I hope it means you are dilating

Contractions you would feel higher up. You're probably feeling "lightening" pains which is what you feel when baby is dropping. Just means things are moving along and baby is getting into position. I starting getting these a few weeks before DD arrived.

I had that pain the other day. It made me stop in my tracks like you said. I remember them with my last pregnancy as well. Very normal. I'm carrying low and have alot of pressure down below. I'm only 31 weeks.
A contraction for me was like a really bad BH with period type cramps, that started off coming and going every 10-12 minutes. Then they evenutally get closer together and more painful.
