What did you pack in your Go Bag for the Hosp
Im way early on this but I am curious, when you have to pack a 'Go bag' for when you go into labor, what did you pack?
May be a silly question, but this is my 1st and all of this is SOOO new to me.

I used the threads on the previous post but ended up not using most things.
I used the pads the hospital gave me and then had clothes to wear in the hospital so I didn't have to wear the gown.
Other than that I just needed my computer and cell phone.

At what point do they allow you to put on clothes in the hospital? Is it after you give birth? Can you just bring your own night gown or they make you wear the hospital gown cause of the openings?

I don't remember exactly what I packed the first time but I will tell you what I plan to pack for my second now that I know better.
One night gown
Robe
Slippers. If you don't have slippers my friend wore her crocs around and I thought that was a good idea.
Yoga type pants
Tank top
Zip up sweat shirt
2 pair socks
2 pair underwear ( make sure there ones you don't care about and are nice and big. Like Hanes bikini.
Nursing bra
Always infinity pads overnight or heavy. This is up to you. Alot of people wear hospital pads but I hated them. I wore them one night and that was it. These always pads are great.
Coming home outfit for baby. IMO that's all you need. They are in a hospital shirt and blanket all the time.
Nursing pillow if you plan to nurse. You don't have to bring this but I like mine over a normal pillow.
My own pillow with a cheap pillow case that can be thrown away. Another thing you don't need but I wanted.

Tolitries for shower. I bought little travel ones at target. This is nice so you can pack light.
I didn't bring a hair dryer because I didn't care and let my hair air dry but bring one if you want.
Makeup ( another thing you don't need but I wanted.
Hair bands
Contact/ glasses
Magazines
Phone
Sucking candy/ gum
Cant think of anything else right now.
To anwser your question, it depends on when you give birth. I gave birth at 1027pm. I wore a gown, hospital pads and underwear to bed that night. I got in room around 12. The next morning I ate breakfast and then asked to take shower and change. It's different I'm sure if you have C-section. It's better just to stay in gown for a while after birth.
Also it was hot as anything in my room. My friend said same think when she was there. I'm a person who is always cold. Just a FYI

i think it all depends on what kind of birth experience you have
I read all the threads on what to bring, had a big bag packed full of stuff, and ended up using very little of it.
I wore my own tank tops (with built in bra) and my own robe for the 2 days i was there. I didn't bother with pants, mainly because i was bleeding so heavily that there's no way i wouldn't have ruined them, and i was in a lot of pain anyway so it was difficult to change in and out of them easily.
As for underwear - well, they give you mesh underwear and load you up with this pad/chuck/ice pack combo that makes you feel like you're carrying a 5lb load in your pants. I went through a new pair of that mesh underwear every time i went to the bathroom, so using 'real' underwear would have been a waste
Not sure its the same for everyone, but i had a LOT of bleeding and swelling down there that any of my real clothes would have been ruined.
As for the L&D room - i was in a gown the whole time
I was fine with my phone, didn't even use the laptop or books or anything like that.
Having my own toiletries was nice, but i was so out of it that using the hospital stuff would have been fine too! (they give you a toiletry kit with everything in it)
I had brought a hair dryer with me, but i laughed when i thought of actually trying to dry my hair when i was there since i could barely stand up. Just taking a shower was enough to make me almost pass out. So i showered and just let my hair dry naturally.
One thing that helped was bringing my own bigger towel from home
So i don't mean to scare you, because i know plenty of people bring all sorts of stuff, and feel fine afterwards and can use it all.. i'm just telling you my own personal experience
