Anyone have a Honda CR-V and a Britax Marathon 70? Rear facing question

So DS just graduated into his big boy seat Chat Icon and we got him the marathon 70. Dh installed and today was the first time going for a ride. Does anyone else think it is hard to get the baby in the seat rear facing? I feel like I need to squeeze DS into a small space. Dh says we cant reposition the seat but it looks like it needs to be moved a little. It is almost impossible to get DS in and he is six months and his toes touch the seat. What are we doing wrong?

It's perfectly fine and normal that DS's feet touch the seat. In the next year and a half, he'll wind up crossing or folding his legs to fit, but that's OK too.

What about the difficulty getting him in ? I don't remember it being so hard with dd and I was driving my old Jetta then. The room between the side of the carseat and the door frame is so narrow.

Have you tried reclining the back seat? It definitely is more difficult to get DD in the CRV, but once we reclined the back seat it gave her a little more leg room.

Yes it is a small space to get them in. It's tight. I used to put her her head in first on an angle then the rest of her body so I would t bang it. It's a small suv. You can recline the back seat a bit to get more leg room. And the passenger front seat is tight as well b/c you can't move it back as far.

I hate the Crv it's very small. I wish we would have realize it

Can you post a pic?

Is the carseat in recline mode? There is a handle on the front that is gray that says recline. It feels like it will break if you pull it but it won't. It should be all the way reclined.

For the person who mentioned reclining the CRV's seat.. You need to check the CRV manual to see if it allows for a carseat to be installed with the seat reclined. Most vehicles require the seat back to be upright or reclined only 1 notch etc.

This. Kids are much more pliable than we are.

There has never been a case of broken legs reported from a RF car seat. It is actually a common injury in FORWARD facing children though.

I noticed the same thing. DD (22 months) just adjusts her legs accordingly.
