To find out or not to find out?????

UGH!!! I am sitting here researching nursery themes and DH is planting the seed that it might be better to find out the babies sex NOW so that we can have everything planned and ready to go once the baby is here.

UGH - we did not find out with DD #1 and I was so 100% on board to not find out with this DC but at the same time I would love for things to just be done with the room ect....

I dont know what to do, I am having a team weak moment

Noooooo! You will NEVER get that surprise back! Do either gender neutral or wait. There really isn't anything that you NEED to do prior to the birth. Especially if you have DH to help.

Why don't you do this..
Pick out all of your wants for a boy and a girl. This way after LO is born, DH or whomever, knows exactly what to get. Paint, wall decals, bedding, etc.. Have all of that saved in wish lists online, then just hit click. Bing, bang, boom, DONE!

I reallyyyyy want to be team this time! Last minute with DS we found out at 22w and it was kind of not as exciting anymore. Not because of the gender, but it was just an impulse decision and I wish I waited. I'm just getting gender neutral cradle sheets, probably pale yellow for my bedroom. does not have a nursery yet, we only have a 2br right now so it doesn't matter until he/she grows out of the cradle.

We found out and I can't wait to set up a girly girl room I love knowing she's a girl. It was a surprise when we found out and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

It was magical finding out that was in the delivery room. After they were born we added a few feminine touches to the room.

You're going to get different answers.

I am a planner and need to have things set otherwise I stress out. After DS was born, I couldn't see focusing on getting the room together. Newborns take up so much time.


BUT! If you have a neutral crib/bedroom set purchased and ready, a neutral color for the walls pre-painted, the room put together and have everything else picked out... You could definitely have a pregnancy. All you would need to do is put up the little details, which, IMHO, can go by the wayside until DC is older and cares.

Yeah but why can't you do the room and not find out? You don't need to know the sex to do the room.

after not finding out the sex for #1, we'd never find out the sex for any future kids. we're team for #2 and have 5 weeks to go. BEST surprise ever.

We've done both now. Team green with our first and we loved hearing it's a boy in the delivery room!!!

This time we both agreed we just wanted to know. But instead of finding out at the sono tech's office, we put it in an envelope and opened it with out closest family on Christmas. Let me tell you, that moment of finding out was just as special as the delivery room!

You can be team green and still do a nursery. It's a little harder if you have your heart set on a very girly nursery if it's a girl though. You may just want to wait to paint until after baby is born.

With our 1st we found out and this time we are not. Even though we knew we were having a first time around, the nursery didn't end up being ready anyway since she was born early. This time I have ideas picked out for each gender and will set up once the baby is here. I don't plan on painting the nursery since we already have a neutral wall color. We will just decorate and accessorize accordingly . I'm not that stressed about it since I know the baby will be in our room the first few months anyway.

I give people who can wait a lot of credit. I am just 15w and already DYING to find out the sex. I don't think I could wait another minute past 16w. DH wants to find out really bad too, so luckily we are on the same page on that.

BUT - if you were really set on being try to hold out. You are just having a moment of weakness. If it doesn't subside in a few weeks, then reconsider.

I give everyone who can hold out for the surprise a ton of credit I would never be able to do it.

We felt the exact same way. We were with and were debating finding out this time for the same reasons you posted - just to be able to prepare.

We decided though to stay . I do have it written down in an envelope in case I change my mind in the last few weeks but, otherwise we are not finding out. I really think though that this baby is a and so does everyone else (and most people were right with DS).
