ABCNews is saying he did it because she owed him $2k.
Story
After setting Gillespie ablaze, Isaac went to his apartment building just blocks away and set a fire there, Browne said. He then hid on a roof before turning himself in to police, Browne said.
Isaac told police that Gillespie owed him $2,000 from some work he had done for her, Browne said. The Brooklyn district attorney's office said they didn't know whether Isaac had an attorney.

Just saw on abc that the woman had previously hired him to help her clean out her apartment and that he was harrassing her, leaving her notes on her door, comming there asking for money supposedly she owed him. She had been trying to help him 'straighten out his life' but he turned on her apparantly.
They showed the outline of her on the floor of the elevator that was charred.
I can not imagine what her family is going through

He should've done us all a favor and jumped off the d@mn roof. Saved the tax payers some money.

My sister in law lives in their building. She was posting about it all night. Originally they thought it was an electrical fire. They didn't learn what happened till 2am. They had to leave their apartment... cat and all.
