Cold cuts
I have been craving a turkey and cheese sandwich but am so scared to eat one. I know they say if u heat up the meat it is ok.... Do you think it's ok to get a sandwich from subway and have them toast it? Do they normally toast the bread with the meat on it?

Re: Cold cuts
I'm pretty lax on these things and have eaten cold cuts without heating them (I'm a dietitian at a cancer center, and we let our immunocompromised pts eat cold cuts, so I think this whole thing is ridiculous). But I would still skip subway. I think there meat is gross sitting out like that exposed to air all day. Also, toasting wouldn't be steaming hot like you would want.
I say just get it from a deli with a high turhiver rate of food. Or if your really scared, get th prepackaged cold cuts, heat them yourself in the microwave and then make whatever you want with them at home

I totally agree! I eat cold cut sandwhiches at least once a week (unheated)...I would just get it from a reputable deli and not Subway. I mean, I love Subway but I dont know if I would trust their meat sitting out all day. If you go to a deli with a good turn over then I think you'll be fine.

What she said (minus the working with cancer patients part)
You could just as easily get listeria from fruits and veggies (in fact, I think the most recent "outbreak" was from cantaloupe) and I'm sure you haven't given them up. Go to a deli and have yourself a turkey and cheese sandwich.

Re: Cold cuts
I eat cold cuts. As long as you get them from a clean place with high turnover, it's fine.
