oh yes had it done. I personally thought it hurt like a son of a bit**. but went into labor the next day.

When is your scheduled csection? I personally wouldn't think of doing that if I was going in for one. What is his reasoning for it?

Are you going for a VBAC? I never had this done but understand it's not comfortable. Just curious why he is essentially trying to bring on your labor if you have a section planned - why not just move up your section date for you?

My doctor did this to me for the same reason. I was 3cm dilated for too long. I went into labor 12 hours after I got my membranes stripped. It didn't hurt but it was uncomfortable.
ETA: I just realized that you're a c-section patient. Why would he do that? Are you trying to deliver via VBAC? I had this done but delivered vaginally.

He's doing it because he knows how uncomfortable I am, and hospital's wont let you get a c-section till your 39 weeks, and there is no way I will make it to that, so he's going to try and bring it on and see what happends so I can deliver quicker, after 37 weeks your Dr can do what ever he wants to help the baby come faster.
ETA: hospitals need a reason- like water braking or contactions to have a c-section before 39 weeks, so he's trying to help me out.

Hmmm, no offense but no one is comfortable in the end. There is absolutely no way I would be comfortable with a doctor doing that especially if I was going in for a repeat csection. Why add more risk to an already major surgery? Why put your body through more trauma? I say suck it up and if you go naturally before your date then great. I can't even imagine a doctor suggesting this to be honest.

my doctor stripped my membranes around 1pm on a monday and my water broke at 6:30am tuesday! she did it while she was doing an internal, it felt similar just a little more discomfort (made me jump) but it only took a few seconds

I feel I will go before he even does it, I can't even walk anymore Diana, its so bad!! I'm starting to swell up too, and my BP was a little high and since I had Julia 2 weeks early due to preclamsia, I don't think he wants to chance things going wrong. I love my Dr, I know there is no way he would do anything to put me in danger! I'm hoping he won't have to do anything!
