What do you wash?
Besides clothing, what else do you wash for the baby prior to using?
Receiving blankets? Wash cloths? Hats/Booties, Mittens?

Pretty much everything I can - clothes, blankets, towels, burp cloths, bedding.

I'm just getting started today and I plan on washing EVERYTHING!
Of course, I'm being overly ambitious but that is the plan. I just started a disinfect-cycle in the washer.

Everything possible. They put chemicals on these things to ward off bugs from other countries, stuff like formaldehyde that can cause everything from minor skin irritation to cancer. Why take the chance KWIM? We washed clothes, blankets, sheets, changing pad cover, bumpers and crib skirt, bundle me, even the car seat cover. Most car seat covers will come off but I think there is a brand or two that don't.
Also, not just the chemicals themselves but sometimes the chemicals don't work and bugs actually do come over from these other countries or the warehouse. Someone I know works at Kohl's in the back unpacking boxes that come in on the truck and she has brought home so many bugs that knowingly jump off the clothes and onto her...skeeeeeve.
Another thing, people touch stuff at the store. I am sure you are clean but I can't vouch for everyone that ever touched something before I purchased it so better safe than sorry.
