comments during Thanksgiving dinner
Ok I don't know why its still bothering me, I think I just need to get it off my chest!
So some distant relative of DH's came to his moms house for dinner. I never met the woman before.
When MIL told her I was PG, she said 'wow! Already? What did he breathe on you And you got pregnant???'
We have been married for 5 months before I gotyea that's soon, but not that quick!

Here's the sh@@tkicker - she said she hopes I'm not having a shower bc its so tacky to have one, since I just had a bridal shower! 
I didn't even mention a shower AT ALL to this woman, and besides that I don't think I'm having one since my family is very superstitious about them.
Grrrrrrr what a piece of work!

yeah, we heard similar comments A LOT since we got married in June and got pregnant in July...
When I finally came out to the office, a coworker asked me when i was due, I said April and he started counting on his fingers and said "okay, good. I thought we were going to have a ******* child on our hands" 
He is that kind of person and I know his personality and know he was entirely kidding so I didn't take offense but if it were a stranger or someone I didn't like, I'd be deeply offended.
people just need to say "congratulations!" and move on!!!!!

Whoa! That was so rude of your Coworker! People just have no common sense!
Are you having a shower? I added to my OP about her baby shower comment. I was up in the air about having one, now she made me feel so uncomfortable!

Wow...people will just make comments about ANYTHING won't they? My sister PROUDLY had a honeymoon pregnancy! I never even thought twice about it.
I've been waiting for comments to be made to me since DD and this DC will be two years apart (I thought people would say it's too close), but thankfully none have been made. I will go OFF on the first person who does. Although I did get a "Was this planned?" and a "Are you happy?" Wow.

People will say the darndest things to you while you are pregnant.. no filter!!!!
Dont even for a second feel like you cant have a baby shower bc you had a bridal shower "not that long ago"-- thats nonsense!!!

I actually am torn about that because of my own mother! don't get me wrong, she is thrilled that we are pregnant but she keeps making comments like "I just feel so bad that you JUST had a bridal shower and now it's like you're asking for MORE presents."
Okay, first of all, I was very, very conscious when it came to my bridal shower - I invited only the closest people to me (about 20 people) so it was never about gifts! It was a small intimate brunch and exactly what I wanted and my baby shower will probably be the same thing...
Argh, i dunno, I want one though

We got pregnant 3 months after we got married. DH and I are both pretty young so a lot of people assume that we had to get married because we got pregnant. They actually say this to us. It's hurtful. Not saying that it's not ok to have a baby outside of marriage, my sister did, but why do you have to assume that or WHO CARES if we did or not, why say anything?

you know what, whether you get pregnant right away or after a few years of marriage people will still have comments....they'll say, "oh that was quick" if its soon after your wedding or "finally" if you've been married for more than a year...then there are people who will ask if it was planned no matter what the timeframe you really can't win, there will always be a comment...this person does sound extra rude though with the shower comment...
i've been getting a lot of big belly comments lately, saying it must be a big baby and i get a lot of strangers asking if i'm having twins i guess b/c i'm small so any size belly looks big on me? i don't let it bother me though b/c i think i look pretty good, i take it as a compliment that i have a nice big healthy belly...any comment i get, i don't let it get to me, nobody is raining on this parade! i had a miscarriage that people didn't know about and everytime we heard "so when are you having a baby" it killed me, so now that i'm pregnant i could careless what people say...
it would be nice to always have a good comeback though!

Not sure why people would think it is tacky to have a baby shower so soon. It's not that soon after bridal shower. It will be months away. My friend got pregnant right after wedding and she had a baby shower. Never thought twice about it. It is your first baby, and you should celebrate it!!
Don't listen to people, some are so rude. That cousin is probably always a nasty person.

She's sounds like a real winner I wouldn't even give what she said another thought. And I just never understood when people had an issue with the baby shower being "so soon" after the bridal shower. Whether it's 6 months later or 6 years later you're still having two showers and people are still buying two gifts. I guess some people just have to find something to complain about.

What a wacko!! I got preggo with my DD 4 mths after DH and I got married, I knew I wanted kids right away!
After her "shower" comment I would of laughed and said, whos idea was it to invite this woman, now I have to hear her comments all nite, THANKS!!

you should def have a baby shower first of all your pregnant for 9 months plus the 6 months you have been married thats not too close for another shower and it is to celebrate something completely different both are joyus occasions and you shouldnt feel bad having a shower for each if people dont want to come they dont have too thats my opinion

I got preggo with my second right after my 1st.
People will make funny comments like that...
My DH LOVES it: he thinks it makes him a stud. I'd play up that angle!
As for the baby shower: tell her she doesn't have to come.
