I have a mom and sister but I went to a shower where it was thrown by MIL. And then I went to another one that was thrown by the mommy to be and DH.

I had a MC back in April but while I was preggo DH & I decided that we would throw the shower. I have a MIL and, she is wonderful, but I wanted to have some control over the type of event it was. My MIL has a habit of making situations about her. We decided to forgo the standard shower and do an evening cocktail party.

Well, sadly we didnt get that far b/c we had a MC shortly after we made that decision but I am a former event planner so I already had the invites planned out in my head  .
To answer your ques, yes, we were planning on stating on the invite that it was a cocktail party given by the Mommy & Daddy to be.

My mom and MIL tried to jointly host my shower but my mom passed away the week before my shower. My MIL and DH rescheduled it and hosted it 6 weeks later.
