Would you bring an older child...(UPDATE at bottom)

to go and see a sonogram?

My DD is 6 and I would love for her to come with me to see the baby during a sonogram!

But...today is my anatomy scan but I know it isn't the right one to bring her to. They have a lot of work to do today, to check everything out, and it will be a long one...so I know she shouldn't come to that.

But subsequent sonos ... I guess when we get to the point when I am getting growth sonos towards the end (which I'm imagining they will do since my DD was 9lbs 10 oz when she was born and required a c-section) might be a good time to bring her?

I just feel like it would be such an amazing thing for her to get to see her brother or sister moving around in there!

What do you all think?

I know my friend is bringing her son when she finds out the gender. And he is only 3

I plan to bring my kids (4 and 2.5 at the time) to the 20w sono. Bring a coloring book and crayons so if she gets bored she has another option but I bet she'd love today's. The growth sonos are so boring and quick - I think if you're going to do one, this is the one to do.

I guess I am just worried...what if something is wrong? What if we get bad news?

The appt is at 1 so I'd have to pull her out of school, but I am OK with that. I don't mind her missing a half-day. I'm just worried that if something were wrong with the baby that I wouldn't want to find out in front of her in case I started to cry or something.

I am sure everything is *fine* with the baby, I'm feeling good strong kicks and we've heard the heartbeat at every appt...but...I have that "what if" in my head.

I get that for sure - it's the reason I didn't want mine at the first appointment. Go with your gut, for sure

Are you going to get a 3D sono later on? That would be cool for her to see! EVen if your dr doesn't do them, you can pay to have one done.

I brought my DD who is 5 1/2 to the 20 week scan (and the few subsequesnt ones I've had since then). She thinks it's cool, but I think it still freaks her out a bit that there's a baby moving all around in there.

I brought Sasha to my 20 weeks, at 2.5. I had DH with me, so he was able to take her out for a few mins here and there if it was boring for her. She was pretty good though and was happy to just sit there.

SIL & BIL brought our niece to their anatomy scan to find out the gender together. She's almost 3. She had guessed brother and she was right

We brought our DD to our 20 week sono, she is 3 and was amazed by the whole process....So glad we took her!

Of course! I took both my kids with us to 2 sono's and also our 3D one! My kids loved it!!

I took my 2 year old to the 20w sono. I had DH there to help. The sono tech called DH and DS in when she was done taking measurements and then we all got to see the baby together.

Hi All! I wanted to update on what we ended up doing.

Our appointment was at 1 in the afternoon and since it would have been a last minute decision we decided NOT to bring DD to the appointment.

So we went to the sono on our own, and they did all the measurements and checked everything out and the baby is doing GREAT and is measuring exactly where he or she should be right now.

We spoke with the sono tech and the doc and they said it would be fine to bring DD and that so many people did it. And it turns out that because of the baby's position they couldn't check the heart chambers so we have to go back in 2 weeks anyway! So we will be bringing her then!

Overall it was a great appointment! While the doc was using the doppler the baby kicked so hard that the doc saw my belly move! He was like "Woah that was a good kick, I saw that!" so that was pretty funny.

And it was great for DH to see and hear the baby ... helps it to sink in a bit for him and he's all talking about needing to start the baby's room so it was a good thing

I brought DD for DS's Level 2 and this one as well. Had to bring DS too, mostly because we had too. They were both good.

DD is almost 4. DS is 1.

My BFF has a 51/2 year old and took her to an imaging place at some point after 20 weeks to see the baby.

Crashing, sorry...

Absolutely bring her! With my youngest brother, my mom brought my sister, other brother and I to a sono. We were 9, 7, and 4, and it was amazing. It's one of my favorite childhood memories. I really think it helped us bond once he was born.

Here is Baby FooFoo! As Emily has officially named the baby for months now!

The head is on the right, and the belly is on the left. The baby was facing the back of me and laying on it's side so we didn't get to see it's face. You can see two black dots in it's lower back and those are the kidneys, and a bit further up you can make out the two sides of the heart.

The good thing is they want to repeat the sono in 2 weeks so they can take a few more measurements because of the baby's position tonight, so we'll definately bring Emily to that appointment!

Let's see if this picture works...

the sono's at the end weren't nearly as fun. you couldn't see as much bc the baby got so big. I never even got to see her face. and I had weekly sono's due to GD.

I'd go with the 20 week one I think? Or the 12 week.
