Can contractions start and then all the sudden disappear?

I thought I was in labor this morning (you might have read my other post early in the am). I was having horrible back pains which came around to the front of my lower abdomen. Maybe once or twice an hour but hurt to the point where I couldn't move. Thsi happened from about 4:30 am to about 10:00 then all the sudden just stopped! I have tiny flashes of pain here and there..but these are just the normal pains I'm having and the contractions seemed to have just disappeared! Is this normal??

I never went into labor with my DD since I had a c-section, so I'm not speaking from experience or anything....

But I do know that my Mom had 2 false alarms with my younger sister before she went into real labor. This was her 3rd pregnancy and she thought she knew what she was doing, but apparently she was all wrong and it iddn't happen for real until the 3rd try!

I think anything is possible!

I thought I was having contractions the other night. Went to labor & delivery and they hooked me up and said false alarm. By then, the pain had subsided.

The nurse told me it is possible I had contractions earlier and they stopped. They told me in the future to time them. If they are 3-5 minutes apart to come to the hospital. I said mine were more just a constant cramping pain. They said then it's not a contraction. They said it comes and goes likes waves.

So in answer to your question, yes, I think so.

With my daughter I had contractions a week before I went into labor. Nothing terrible..5-7 minutes apart..lasted about an hour.

Nope...this has been going on since 4 am! It's been on and off all day. I am timing them but it's all over the place...from 7 mins apart to 15 to 6 to 13. I hope this doesn't go on much longer!!! it's painful!!

I have been experiencing this for 3 days now. Went to the dr. tues night. The next morning I am pretty sure I lost my mucous plug. Wednesday night I barely slept bc I was having contractions every 1/2 hour from 1 to 4 am. Then fell asleep and woke up with nothing. Its been going on like this (on and off) since then. It's beginning to get very frustrating.

With my last DD this happened ! I totally was ready to got the hospital,but when I started to walk around they went away
