has anyone visited Oheka Castle? in babymoon planning mode - please help!

i'm thinking of a super close babymoon but is oheka castle worth the $? we're willing to splurge a little for our "last trip" before baby but would still like to stick to a budget. haha i'm looking at glen cove mansion, the inn at fox hollow but i'm reading a lot of bad reviews on glen cove mansion and fox hollow also seems pretty $$. any advice is much appreciated!! TIA!!

Edit: this is what happened when I called Oheka yesterday... i was interested in their babymoon package but it's way too expensive so i'm looking at their cheapest package (the couples one for $655). the sales manager steve said that on weekends, packages cost $100 more but the site doesn't say that anywhere. also on the site, it says that there would be 25% discount off an extra 2nd night's stay but steve said that since we want to add an extra night on a weekend, that there would be no discount. is that really the policy? i feel like they're pulling my leg Chat Icon

I stayed in a honeymoon suite in the Fox Hollow inn (back in 2004) and it really wasn't that special IMO. I would go for Oheka!

I used to work at Fox Hollow (2003-4) and to me it seemed like a regular hotel with a really nice lobby. New owners now, not sure if things changed.

I stayed at the Inn at Fox Hollow the night of our wedding (11/08) and for our 1st anniversary (11/09). The suites are beautiful.

I have been there for formal dinners where my parents stayed over night. While it's cool to be in a 'castle setting', the rooms are like regular hotel rooms. I wouldn't pay that price.

I'm sorry I think that price is INSANE!! You can take a trip someplace warm for a few hundred dollars more!

i stayed in a suite at oheka for my sisters wedding and it was one of the most beautiful suites i ahve ever stayed in.

if you can afford the splurge - do it!

another suggestion is greenwich, ct. the delemar hotel. its 1 hour from LI and there is shopping and restaurants. i think its about 300 a night. there is also a spa and a restaurant in the hotel which is excellent. the bar/lounge is very popular and a celebrity hangout.

I agree. You can do a small get away for that price. I've been to a wedding at Oheka, and I wasn't impressed at all. Could have been because it was cold and you could not use the grounds but it was nothing special at all.
