UPDATE: Third visit to Dr. in three days... worried but trying to remain positive and calm.

10.18.11 I was feeling hardness and tightening all day long. Some mild cramping. I'm 34 weeks 5 days. I was put on the monitor and I was contracting. My Dr.did a pelvic. I'm 1 finger tip dilated...whatever that means... I was told to go home rest eat something light perhaps have a glass of wine and should they get worse call the service. If I remain same, she wants me in her office tomorrow at 8 am...... She said the baby would be fine if he comes early....

UPDATE: Thursday, 10.20.11 This was my third day visiting my dr.'s office. The morning after my first visit, I was told to come back in so that I could be checked again. I was having the same braxton hicks and dilation was slightly progressed but not by much, they said to go home and okay to return to work Thursday.

Today, I started to feel constipated at work. Couldnt go very much, felt bad lower cramps with lower back pain. I thought it was just cramping bc I was constipated.. I called Dr.'s office anyway to let them know what was going on. They tell me to come back in to the office. I'm hooked up to the NST, The on call Dr. comes in to check the strip, she tells me this is not braxton hicks that I am contracting regularly every minute. She does an internal, no change to cervix. Good news. However, she orders me to bedrest for one week. I'm 35 weeks today. She tells me by putting me on bed rest, this will hopefully help to keep him in a week or two more.

I'm trying to remain calm. I am still feeling constipated like I have to go, but nothing realling comes out. No discharge or any bleeding.. Thank god, but I thought I over heard the nurse saying there were traces of blood in my urine. They are sending out a UC just to check.

Please pray for me that my baby will be okay!

Re: so scared! just got home from dr. office for reg check up

This is exactly what happened to me at 34 weeks. Try not to stress out. Drink lots of fluids and relax. I ended up being 2 weeks late. I was sure that I would go early. Chat Icon

Don't stress too much because stress can cause labor. Go home and rest. It's pretty common at this stage to feel contractions and be dilated. Your doctor will just keep watch on you to make sure you don't progress too much.

Was at the Dr. @ 8:00 a.m. today. Monitored again and examined again. Turns out they are Braxton Hicks contractions...and the cervix has softened a tad more than it was last night. They ended up not being too concerened and said okay to go home and return to work tomorrow. Thank god! I want him to cook alittle longer!

It's horrible and I sooooo feel your pain! Have you gone #2 lately? I know tmi, but the morning before I had dd I was so freaking constipated I sat on the toilet crying and in pain for like 2hrs. When I went to the doc she did the internal, her eyes got big, and said get a damnn enemaChat Icon I did that night and the next day my water broke! I was also 1 day off of bedrest so she was ready. Try to rest, drink LOTS of water and if you need to poop do what you have to. Everybody is different, but I remember posting something similar because I was sure I would push her out if I strained to hard....I know for me there would have been NO DOUBT if I was having her.

Thanks. What I don't undertand is...I have been very hydrated. I've been drinking 64-72 ounces of water for awhile now. I honestly think its been stress. My family tends to add to my stress level even if I try and block them out.

I just received an annoying call when they know I'm on bed rest and heart rate should not elevate. I swear sometimes when people say family is what's important, I have to roll my eyes bc its not true if tour family is full of drama and likes to cause you pain. I'd rather not be involved with all that.Chat Icon
