Health Insurance Question re:adding baby
my little pumpkin will be added to my husband's plan, since it is so much better than what i have! Anyway, i am confused as to how the coverage will work once the baby is born since the baby does not have a SS# yet... how do i go to the visits and take care of payments? Do i wait the month or whatever and submit all the bills as claims?
Any advice would be greatly apprciated!
TIA

Re: Health Insurance Question re:adding baby
I believe the baby is covered under whatever insurance you are covered under for the first 30 days. So if you are under DH, so is the baby.
Your DH will have to fill out paperwork from his HR department to officially add your baby when you have the name, birth date etc.
I don't remember having to have DC's SS#'s, but if I did, they accepted the paperwork after I had the number and all bills were paid fine.

The baby's insurance will be retroactive as of DOB so any services rendered will be covered.

I wanted to add, that if you are under your own insurance now, and plan on going over to DH's, I would look into doing that now before the baby is born, so that it is easier to add the baby after birth. Plus, you'll be covered better too with the labor costs.
Have your DH look into it with his HR person.
