btdt postpartum

when can I expect to feel a little normal and stop crying? The girls will be 5 weeks on Saturday. We have had a difficult road in the nicu and tonight is the first night with both of them home.
For weeks I have felt like I could have or have bawled my eyes out.

It takes a while - for me it was 6 weeks the first time, 8 weeks the 2nd time. I think having babies in the NICU would really add to that! Cry as much as you need to, don't hold it in, and if it seems like it just isn't getting better talk to your OB Chat Icon

Re: btdt postpartum

OMG...I was a hormonal zombie with both kids for about 12 weeks (when they started sleeping about 6h stretches). Otherwise I cried every night at 9pm...and more often with baby number 2.

After that I was a ok. I had baby blues, but not severe enough for true post partum...but either way it sucks. If you are concerned talk to your OB...but for me..I just needed some sleep..

Re: btdt postpartum

At 3 months pp things have gotten a little better for me. It started to get better after one magical day. DH had work and I had him drop DD off to my MIL for the morning. I slept a little and took a long hot shower before egtting a mani and pedi. DH and I then went to lunch and did some shopping before picking DD up. I felt like a new woman after that day. Going back to work has helped a little also because it forces all of us into a routine.

But it's still a little hairy. The other night I was hysterically crying for 2 hours over something so silly. DH thought it was hysterical. And it was because I know it was silly, but I can't help it. I've heard it can take months for your hormones to level out.

Re: btdt postpartum

I honestly didn't start to feel better until I went back to work at 9 weeks.
I think getting back into my groove at work is what snapped me out of it.

It takes awhile for sure!
