DC's who use white noise machine to sleep?
My DD has had a nursery fan and/or white noise machine in her room since she was 3 or 4 months old. We use it for every nap and every night at bedtime. I wouldn't say she "relies" on it to sleep, but I definately think it helps drown out background noise and help her sleep longer.
For those with DC's that use it, and either go to daycare or a babysitter, do you find that they nap less or sleep worse without it?
DD goes to a babysitter and she doesn't have one. I feel awkward asking her to either get one or give one to her but DD's naps have been VERY short when she's there and I feel like this has a lot to do with it.

I would not ask the sitter to get one but I'd give her one and ask that she use it. I'm sure she will welcome longer naps as well. Let her know that your night time routine is being affected and you'd like to try it.

I bought a second one to keep at daycare. She doesn't need it to sleep, but it definitely helps her sleep longer.

In my specific case, DS needs his sound machine to sleep at home (or if we go to someone's house). At daycare they play music very low during naptime and it seems to do the trick.
In your case, since DC's naps seem to be suffering without the sound machine, I would buy a cheap extra one to keep at daycare and ask her to use it when she goes down for a nap.

DD barely sleeps at ALL without it.
Daycare is hit or miss if she will even take a nap- and when she does it's no more than 40 min tops!
If she goes to my mom's or something- it takes FOREVER to get her to sleep.
However- I can't say if it's the noise machine or just the fact that at daycare it's noisy, she's not in her crib, it's bright, there is lots going on.
It may be that she needs her own crib to sleep- I can't say.

we always pack the sound machine for the sitter or my inlaws. It's small enough so we do it.

They also play lullaby music during nap time. I think you should get one for the sitter
