How to change your privacy on FB (not sure if this was posted)
I just posted this for my status:
Please do me a favor and move your mouse over my name here, wait for the box to load and then move your mouse over the "Subscribe" link. Then uncheck the "Comments and Likes". I would really rather that my comments on friends and families posts not be made public, thank you! Then re-post this if you don't want your every single move posted on the right side in the "Ticker Box" for everyone to see!
(For privacy AND because I think this new change that my facebook needs a facebook is RIDICULOUS and INCONVENIENT)
I did it for a few friends that posted so far.
If you would like copy and paste.

I haven't complained about the new layout yet...
BUT
I have to admit..it is a little weird that I can now see on that "ticker" all the way on the right when my friends comment on their friends' statuses and pictures even when they are not mutual friends!
Does that mean that when my friends comment on my pictures - ALL their friends can see it on the side too?!?!?
I have my settings on friends only not friends of friends..
I know it is different when you tag someone...but am ok with that ...bec I really only tag my DH and I know all his friends...it is just when other friends who I dont really know their friends...that would bother me!!!

ive been trying to figure it out.
according to those instructions, when i unsubscribe, I end up hiding someone from my feed.
I dont think that is for those little updates on the FB within FB box.

im confused!
by posting that status and having your friends make the changes that makes them and only them not see your updates on the right ticker thing?
meaning i cant change a setting that will hide it from everyone...people have to opt to turn it off individually?
so like my MIL who is obsessed with FB wouldnt choose to turn it off for me bc she loves to see every move i make on there....so i have no way of hiding it from her?

Yea, I don't see these things either. Perhaps because I had such tight security before. Or maybe I haven't gotten all the changes yet. Not sure.

My ticker only shows people who's profiles are already public or viewable to friends of friends.
It's the same thing as it used to be when it put a blurb on your profile that said "Blank just posted "blah blah blah" on person X's profile"

So Ang, could you see in your ticker my comment to my brother about this issue? All my other friends told me they saw it. I wonder if his profile is public and thats why they can see it?

I am running the most recent version of Firefox. Although I have not tried in Explorer. I never use IE.

If you go into privacy settings, HOW YOU CONNECT there are options to select who can see your wall posts made by others. There is also a tagging options section you can customize.

Well if that's the case- that is the solution- just don't ever upgrade your browser!
I have no desire to deal with these changes so I'll just keep my fingers crossed!

It's always been that way. If you post on Jane Doe's page, then it's visible to those on Jane's friend's list or if she has a public profile, to everyone.
If you post on John Doe's profile or pic or status, it will put a blurb on your wall stating "aggggggaaa" on John Doe's status if John's status can be read by public, friends of friends or if you're friends with John yourself.
Unsubscribing your friends from your ticker isn't doing anything except making them not visible to you.
Make sure your Default Profile is set to Private
Where it says "HOW TO CONNECT" click edit settings. On the line where it says "Who can see Wall posts by others on your profile?" Click "Friends Only".
Also check your How Tags work settings and edit those. I have mine set to requiring approval for people tagging me. I have no problem with most of my friends tagging me since we have a large group of mutual friends, but I dont' want to be tagged in someone who I know has a public profile's pics KWIM?

I see what youre saying. I guess with the ticker it makes it all more out there than i ever noticed before. I have my page set as private as possible yet its not private enough for me.
