SAHM when you get sick...
I don't know how we got this lucky, I haven't really been sick since last winter. And it was so rare, my mom just took off work and stayed with DS. She was so paranoid I'd get him sick - I was crazy lucky!
I started battling a bad cold tonight.I'm freaking out, how do I handle it? Do I just lay on the sofa and put the TV on for him? He's 18m...
Can you tell me a little about what it was like being sick with a toddler at home? Just so I know what to expect, and don't feel like a bad mom resorting to TV to keep him company while I zone out.

Lie on the sofa and let him watch TV. A day or two won't kill him, and if you get more rest, you'll be back to your old self sooner. Once DH is home, take something to help you feel better (maybe even something to help you sleep so you're rested in the morning) and go to bed early! You'll still have to do a lot - it comes with the territory, but take it as easy as you can. You deserve a break, too, even if your name is "Mommy."
Seriously, when I'm sick, it's Channel 13 or Nick Jr. all day. And I refuse to feel guilty about it.

I would have no problem sitting the kid in front of the TV all day if I was sick. Unfortunately, I don't think that would go over well with DS (DD would love it). I'm thinking about it because I have a scratchy throat and I hope it doesn't develop into anything.

I absolutely will resort to sesame street and nick jr, when I am sick! What other choice do you have when you can barely move!

TV/Movies would definitely be on for a day if I wasn't feeling well.
When I was in my first trimester with the twins I had morning sickness pretty bad. Movies, Nick Jr, and Disney channel were my best friend! There were times where I felt like I couldn't even lay on the couch I just wanted my bed. And I'd let DS hang in the living room while I tried to get myself together in my bedroom (on the same floor and within an ear shot).
Don't feel guilty. The harder you push yourself while you aren't feeling well, the longer it will take you to get better.

Oh my god - this is my one big pet peeve about being a SAHM. If my husband feels sick, he just calls in sick and rests that day. If I get sick I am told to call and find someone to help out or else I am just SOL! It's like you are not allowed to get sick as a SAHM. The one or two times that I was really deathly ill I made my husband stay home.
