Help my 6 week old was starting to sleep more at night
My DS is 6 weeks and was starting to sleep 6 to 7 hours a night. He was not napping much during the day and I have been working on it. He is doing better. He is only bf. He has been taking small naps but seems to fall asleep between 5 and 6 pm for 4 or 5 hours. Then he is getting up every 2 hours again. Any advice? I am exhausted. Thanks

I can't remember for sure, but I think there is a growth spurt around 6 weeks, so that might be the reason that he's suddenly waking to feed again. How often is he BFing during the day?

He is feeding pretty much every 2 hours. Sometimes less. I thought at 6 weeks they are supposed to sleep longer at night ? He started to. Never thought about a growth spurt. Feel like I just got out of his last one. He fights sleeping too.

He's still so young. DD went for longer stretches at that age, but she wasn't always consistent. Every time I thought she had a "schedule," she'd change it.
This is from KellyMom.com re: growth spurts. Common times for growth spurts are during the first few days at home and around 7-10 days, 2-3 weeks, 4-6 weeks, 3 months, 4 months, 6 months and 9 months (more or less). Babies don't read calendars, however, so your baby may do things differently.
If the late afternoon/early evening snooze is new, maybe he's hungry later because he's sleeping for a longer stretch at that time?

I wouldn't let him sleep this long between 5 and 6. If he falls asleep, I wouldn't let him sleep longer than 2-3 hours during the day without feeding.

I thought we were not supposed to wake them if they are sleeping. I dont want him to sleep 4 or 5 hours at 5 or 6 pm then he is getting up at 9 or 10pm to nurse again.
