Bed Rail Question for BTDT Moms

I was looking through the One Step Ahead catalogue, and saw these extra long bed rails. I kinda like them since they will feel more like a crib, and may be an easier transition for DD who is 2.5 and LOOOVES her crib. We have another one on the way, so she needs to move on sooner rather than later.

Any BTDT moms have an opinion if the longer ones may provide an easier crib to bed transition?

Here are the extra long ones, which are 56". She will be in a Full size bed, which is about 74" long.

Here is a pic of standard size, which is 43".

Honestly...I don't see a need for the larger ones. Unless your DC sleeps ALL over the crib at this time and you feel that they will in the bed as well.

We used the standard one...never had a problem Chat Icon

Jack has the extra long ones - I love them. He sleeps all over the place so I don't need to worry about him falling out.

We are in the same exact boat!!! DS is 28 months, we moved him to a twin about a month ago (DC#2 is coming in 5 weeks) and I highly recommend the extra long rails. I think he still feels like he is in the crib. He hasn't actually figured out that he can climb out the bottom. He still calls me to come get him out of bed. To keep with that, we always put him in/ out over the side, never at the foot of the bed. The transition was so much easier than I thought. He loves his crib. We left the crib disassembled and won't move it to DC #2's room for a while, out of sight out of mind Chat Icon .

Randi, CONGRATS!!!!!!!!

DD loves her crib too therefore we bought another crib for the new baby, but are going to switch her over asap bc she's soooo huge for the crib, it's going to be painful bc I see how she's been with other transitions...I see your point with the extra long but I think it's a waste, a rail is a rail they'll get out either way and it being longer won't make it feel more like a crib as much as I'd like think it willChat Icon

Re: Bed Rail Question for BTDT Moms

thanks for the insight-- I think I will just go with the longer rails. They are 10 bucks more, so it really was just a matter of what would ease the transition the best.

Jen, my DH will not let get another crib!!! But they will be exactly 3 years apart, so I think if it was a little less, we'd consider getting one.

I just want to get her room done so I can focus on doing the new nursery!

Just wanted to say that my girls are exactly 3 years apart (to the day!) and they are absolutely adorable together...you will love the age difference (obviously you'd love any age difference, but you know what I mean Chat Icon ) Congratulations!

As for your question, in your situation, go for the extra-long ones. My older DD was moved out of her crib 3 months before she turned 3, and did great in her bed from Day 1 thankfully...we have the standard-size ones but she stays in place in her sleep.
