dropping in from Pregnancy boards w/a Christening ??
I'm stressing my BUTT off already about being able to afford a christening and looking for some rec's from those of you who have recently switched over to these boards and had one...
I know my Mom will tell me to just have it in my yard, but I'd want to do it around May/June latest, and I feel like the weather is too touchy and I don't have enough room in my house...besides, I really don't want to have to worry about anything...I can't imagine having to leave the church and get to my house before ppl, all dressed, and make sure food is cooking, and everything's set up, rushing around, etc, considering all my family that would help will be at the church kwim?
Can Anyone that's had their DC's christening in Suffolk County recommend places?
I feel like we'd have 50 ppl definitely, and I'd really like to stay in the 30 - 40 pp price range, I'm not looking for open bar, maybe just beer and wine?
TIA!

We live in eastern Suffolk and are having it at Ladakins on Mill Pond in Moriches. Same place I had my shower. Has room for both smaller and larger party options. Def. in your price range for a buffet!

I did not have mine in Suffolk - but just a suggestion - would you consider having it at your house if you get a tent and have it catered? That way you don't have to worry and then you can get a server to clean up and make sure things run smoothly?? Otherwise have you called any VFW halls or Knights of Columbus? I know in Nassau there are ones that do it all(set up, food, take down) and are reasonable in price.

Re: dropping in from Pregnancy boards w/a Christening ??
all of these suggestions sound great...
My friend just had her bridal shower at Ladakins
and some close family friends of mine always use the same catering company, they serve, clean up, etc, and they rent tents and all too, so I didn't even think of doing that, I'll look into what that costs because then it takes away the stress of having to do everything! but i assume will be less costly
and yes I called a knights of columbus near me recently for my cousin and they do do it all, so I'll just have to go and see hwo the room looks, if their prices changed since then, etc...
thanks for the suggestions!!!

Re: dropping in from Pregnancy boards w/a Christening ??
I had DS' christening at Carnival Restaurant in Port Jefferson Station. It was $30 p/p and the food is delicious. I opted out of the beer/wine option and just purchased a carafe of red and white wine on each table and had a bar tab for the rest (bar tab came to around $50). I found when people had some wine on the table they were happy Much much cheeper than the $10 p/p to have wine/beer included. The 30pp also includes the cake from the bakery next door.

We had a lot less people than you (somewhere between 15-20) but we went to Bell Posto in Huntington. They had a price fix menu, it was low $30's pp, included a choice of app, entree, dessert (we also brought our own cake) and unlimited wine. The food was excellent, huge portions, everyone loved it. I don't know how they stay in business with what they give you for the price. Not sure how many the can accommodate but it's worth looking into.

Island Hills Golf and Country Club in Sayville !
Awesome food, beautiful place with a great view overlooking the golf course...The banquet manager Charlie was really great to work with and they were extremely reasonable I think we payed $34'ish PP and ran a tab for beer/wine only....

We had ours at The Snapper Inn during their Sunday brunch. I called ahead to make reservations. The food & service was fantastic. I'd use them again should we have another
